NS'ers with Lyme disease?

hey guys i got diagnosed with lyme disease about 2 weeks ago and this shit blows. If anyone on here has gotten it before or know someone who has it you know what i mean.

Lyme is really getting me good. I developed bells paulsy which is a neurological that paralyzes the left side of your face. so i look like a stroke victim pretty much. but the doc thinks the lyme is in my central nervous system so i have to get a spinal tap for that and if it comes back positive i need the doxy cycline meds plus a med that you can only get for IV and i need that twice a day for 2 months. plus the lyme has given me really bad muscle cramps, tightness and soreness. And i got the famous lyme joint pains which are no fun.

ive had it for about a month now the doctors think. but i caught it early enough to where ill be fine in about 2-3 months but this is still screwing up my summer

any other NS'ers got any lyme stories. i know it can get pretty serious if gone un treated.

PS. anyone drink while on doxy. i guess it can be really bad for you but i dont know if thats true or not.

I got a couple tick bites and started feeling rough so went to the docs and got some antibiotics. Was on them for 10 days, then all was good. Vibes man.

Well that sucks, hope you feel better. My brother got Lyme when he was a little kid, we used to play in the woods all day every day so not that surprising that he got it. I just remember him laying on the couch completely miserable for a few weeks.

Shit sucks. I had a 104 fever for a week, extreme joint pain and the worst headache humanly imaginable. I couldn't get out of bed. I developed the bull's eye rash on my groin a few days after the onset of my symptoms. The rash also spread over my whole body, I was polka doted head to toe. I was on the doxycycline for 28 days. The pills make you feel almost just as shitty as the Lyme does. Luckily for me I started treatment within 10 days after the tick got me, so while I still hold the chance of going into relapse it is minimal. Lyme disease is no joke. It can fuck with every single one of your organs including your brain and nervous system, and if you have it long enough you can even transmit it sexually. Best of luck to you buddy. I hope the treatment works swift and that you are back to your normal self as soon as possible.

Funny that you posted this because I have Lyme right now as well. I got diagnosed officially just before I had to get spinal taps for meningitis. They rulled out that I didn't need the taps because they knew what what causing me migraines and crazy muscle soreness. I guess I got bit bye a tick when I was out in the woods at some point. The medicine I take makes my skin super sensative to the sun so I have to be completely covered up when I go outside. Even better I'm on vacation in South Carolina! And trust me man, chicks don't dig the long sleeve sun shirt. Hope you get better soon And can have a half decent summer!

last november the doctors thought I had it. i literally couldn't stand up for more than 30 seconds. Worst thing that's ever happened to me.

Turns out I have addison's disease. Shit sucks

I have it, didnt hit me as hard as you. Just a fever and sore throat for 2 weeks.
Doctors didnt think that is what I had but I brought it up and it was.

I thought my knees hurt because I cased too many jumps lol, but doc tested me for lyme and guess what positive! The doxycycline made me feel like crap too. if i took it on an empty stomach i would for sure puke.

I was lucky though, never really had many major symptoms.

Lyme disease sucks. Ive never had it but my friends have. My one friend told me about the spinal tap. He rolled onto his back in his sleep and had spinal head aches after ward because of it. Im more afraid of a spinal tap than lyme disease

I've had it. Started getting flu like symptoms, extreme neck pain/stiffness, and fever. After a couple days my parents and I figured I may have meningitis but (because I did extensive research) also figured it could be lyme. Went to the ER, had to get a spinal tap (not fun at all), and spent the night in the hospital. In the morning was diagnosed with lyme, given doxycycline and was told to take it a couple times a day for I wanna say like a month. Shit didn't sit well with me, I had to drink like 5 glasses of water with each pill (they gave me a high dose) and I felt nauseous all the time. Thank god I got better and it's definitely something I wouldn't want to go through again.

My cousin also has it (I think its gotten to the point where she has it for life) and its really fucked up her life.

It isn't a joke, if you don't catch it in the early stages (luckily I did) it WILL change your life forever and not in a good way.

Oh and I forgot the terrible joint aches and headaches as well. Never got the rash and never found the tick either. VIbes OP, besides the bells palsy it seems like we were both in the same boat.

Ive had bells palsy before. It sucked. No clue why or how. I had a ton of blood tests done and nothing was ever determined.

I actually don't have the fever which I'm pumped about. But I have a spinal tap tomorrow to see if it's in my central nervous system. Heard getting the tap blows. And the medicine doesn't do a thing to me. I take it on an empty stomach all the time.

The tap is hard to describe. They numb the shit out of your back but when they go in it feels like and vice grip is squeezing the muscles in your back really hard. My brother had to get one because he had viral meningitis and they hit a nerve that went to his leg and his entire leg cramped up and twitched and shyte.

Not trying to bum you out but there is really no silver lining, it ain't fun. But if you have a good doc it should be no more than 10 minutes and then you get some nice painkillers :). Try not to move like at all after either because spinal headaches are fucking terrible.

I got it in 8th grade, got the arthritis part of it and my knee swelled up to the size of a volleyball. All good now though.

They thought I had Lyme as I have a lot of the symptoms but tests came back negative. There is a silver lining. At least you know the cause of all your symptoms and there is a chance they will get better with the antibiotics. Good luck with it man. C

Lyme terrifies me. We have had an explosive increase in tick populations in the last few years and since I spend a lot of time outside, my odds of getting bit are high. Two summers ago I dug one out of the back of my thigh after mowing the lawn. Last fall my dog contracted Lyme (despite being treated with flea and tick prevention medicine) and required upwards of $350 in vet bills. She will always be a carrier of the disease but is no longer affected by symptoms. I routinely pick 5 or more ticks off her each day in the spring and the fall, with the record being 12 in one day. Fortunately these are just climbing on her and have not bitten as we conduct a tick check immediately when she is about to come in from being outside.

There used to be a vaccine that was about 76% effective in preventing Lyme, but it suffered public backlash and was pulled by the maker, even though the vaccine was said to be safe by studies.

It is horribly debilitating and in a country where health insurance coverage is either non-existent for some, and expensive and limited for many (large deductibles or low coverage limits), it can quickly run up a huge bill for diagnosis and treatment. As infection rates rise, I expect the disease will get more attention and hopefully a new vaccine will come to market.

Fuck lol. Ill be good I'm pretty good with needles and shit so I think ill be okay. Just gotta get it over with.... How long until he was feeling okay again? I've heard it takes like 4-5 hours until you can get up and move around again.

Sorry for dub post but yea all my doctors have tons me that ticks are starting to really thrive and the scary thing is that the deer ticks and been getting smaller and smaller the past years so they're extremely small and almost impossible to see to the naked eye. Hopefully a vaccine comes out. It would be very beneficial for a lot if people and prevent all the horror stories Lyme produces every tear

That's an understatement... ticks are so bad (in NH anyways) that they're starting to take down FUCKING MOOSE.

One guy who hunts moose said he filled two buckets with ticks from a singular moose he bagged.

Same case in Vermont. Moose populations are feeling the stress from them and human cases of Lyme have tripled in Vermont in two years, after doubling year after year in prior years.

I'm sitting in the exam room right now. Just got my spinal tap done like 10 minutes ago and I feel fine and it actually didnt hurt at all. The numbing agent hurt a stung a little but that was the worst of it. Just gotta lay down for the next 4-5 hours so I don't get headaches

yeah man ive had lyme disease too. could not move my right leg at all it was very inflamed to the point where i needed crutches. was on meds for a month but now everything is fine

Dude, that sucks. I got lymes and mono at the same time and it wasn't nearly as bad. I just had to take antibiotics. Hope you get better!

In Europe there's the danger of Lyme disease and Tick-Borne Encephalitis which can be equally as bad if not worse.

I had bells Palsy once. It looks fucking reatrded, mine went away after like a month i think.

However, on the bright side, apparently you become "better looking" from it. I should know, I'm elbow deep in pussy every night.

Its also surprising how many famous people have had it before.

Pierce Brosnan and George Clooney to name a few.

You are correct, it does not.

However, the test for Lyme is very inaccurate, you can have full blown lyme and fail the test (as i did) If you have it long enough without noticing it is impossible to rid you of it. It will continually come back for the rest of life. It has the same side effects as aids except lyme can effect every single one of you organs, Including your brain.

I'm not saying its worse than aids, it's definitely not. However, you can just live on your normal life and have a great chance to get it. It's becoming an epidemic and the worse part is the medical community still treats it likes it's not there. If you the leave the northeast and ask to get a Lyme test the doctors will laugh at you. I've seen it happen more than once.

i live in southern nh too. got lyme disease earlier this summer, just noticed to classic bullseye on my hip and figured i should probably go to the doctor. they put me on antibiotics for 3 weeks and i'm fine now and the bullseye is gone. I noticed to medicine giving me a little bit of an upset stomach but nothing too bad. as far as drinking i assumed it would give warnings on the label so i drank while on it and didnt notice any side effects. but you definitely should stay out of the sun while on it, I got fried a couple times

Cool so I can drink!!! Dope! And yea the sun has gotten me a few times. No burns but I feel the sun starting to really affect me and I just go inside to avoid burns
