Why is discovery channel company making what if fake shows?

First mermaids now megalodon, why cant they make shows about reals things. Why must they make up shows? The general public is dumb enough to believe it.

I know, and you think they would have changed it up a little from the mermaid one, but they kept the same interviewing look/back drop, and once again they are in South Africa. As well the "scientist" look like a cast from a movie, because it is one.

because they've been doing shark week since 1987 and ran out of new programming/info to run in about 1991.

despite the hype and everyone acting obsessed with it, shark week has been awful for longer than many NS'ers have been alive.

Ya it's possible, but they won't find dick for evidence in the show

And to Fujarome^^ Ya I know shark week is horrible. I've never liked it for the fact that every show is the same and there are about 10 "new" shows the whole week

History channel used to be badass. Again shitty reality shows sell better than educational stuff. I'd rather watch some history than some dumb reality show they made but whatever.

I haven't watched tv in a few years, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not missing anything.

You and El Barto are completely right in that I should have said religion *is* popular instead of was. If I've offended you personally, my apologies. I doubt though that many other religious people give two shits about one sentence that some American teenager posted on an online forum.

I have been very disappointed in discovery channel. I watched megalodon hoping there might be something factually or worth watching. I miss the days when it was awesome dinosaur shows and shows about the cosmos and I actually learned something.

I didn't watch the show so I don't know what they said but I know that the Megalodon did exist but is now extinct.

Anyways, this year I am applying to the Montana State Master of Fine Arts Program for Science and Natural History Fillmmaking to hopefully make it in the field of educational video. I am sick and tired of all the bullshit on tv and want to make videos that truly open the pubic's eye to valuable scientific information rather than making videos that make us dumber. Fucking bigfoot, mermaids.....I mean there are animals that actually EXIST that are 100x more interesting to learn about than fucking bigfoot.

Man vs Wild....wasn't entirely fake.  In fact, most of it was real.  However, there were some points throughout the shows' episodes that were misleading.  Also survivor man is the best ,l,,l
