What's the best way to buckle your boots?
From top downwards or from bottom to top?

Top to bottom. Heel needs to be all the way back, most important part.

Kick your heel back to get your heel in the heel pocket, then do the middle one, then the bottom one, then the top one(s). Having the middle buckle(s) tight is the most important, because that's what keeps the back of your foot locked down.

I do top two 2/3 tight. then flex my boot making sure my heel is all the way back. then bottom two, then tighten top the rest of the way. Last flex again and then velcro tight.

I put the boot on, flex forward, then power strap, top buckles (I start with the second one), then toe buckles. Personally I don't go banging my toes and heels on the ground, but if it works for you and your comfortable with it, I'm not going to discourage you from it. I did once hear that banging your toes and heels wasn't ideal, but I can't remember the reasoning behind it.

Sort of depends on what kind of boot you have- I have found that FTs have a certain order that aids in the cables finding the right grove (top to bottom approach for doing them up, bottom to top approach for taking them off)

But I honestly don't think it matters. I have never noticed a difference when going from bottom to top or top to bottom in normal 4-buckle overlap boot.

What you should look out for is making sure the shell overlapping happens the right way and does not get pinched or bound up on itself.

I've got Salomon Quest 90's. And cheers for the good answers guys.
Usually I buckle from top to bottom, flex quite hard into them and then buckle them a bit tighter again. I've never seen anyone banging toe and heels though.

Banging the heel was something people used to do as few years ago when the liners were firmer and you really needed to get your foot back into them. Not really needed as much these days S simply doing up the top buckles will get you back in the boot.
