Gaper days: were did you slide your first box

we all have to start somewere for me it was at gore mountain on a rainbow box back in 2007 two feet long.

first time was some time ago, Wachusetts mini park circa 2007 I think?

My dad told me they ruined my skis so I stayed away from them for a few years though until I got into park last year.

stratton mountain. the box was maybe 4 feet long and about 4 inches above the snow. i was so pumped there were three in a row and then a little jump so i would straight slide the first two, actually slide the third and ride out switch, then switch 180 the tiny jump.


thanks to tom sherwood, if he sees this/if he even browses NS. that was a dope day of skiing and you pushing me to huck a sketchy 180 off a 10 foot jump is the reason i now love to ski.

Probably at Snoqualmie 13-14 years ago, when west still had a regular park. First one I vividly remember was tryin to hit a rainbow box straight at white pass probably 11 years ago and I stopped halfway up it and slid back down and fell. That definitely wasn't my first attempt. That was followed by years where I was a gaped and went through the park maybe one run a season until maybe 6 years ago when I started hitting it a bit more. I never really got interested until maybe 5 years ago

Camden Snow Bowl in 5th-6th grade. One of those. It was a box about 5 feet long and 3 feet wide, about 6 inches off the ground. I was stoked to say the least

Back when I was like 10 there were a bunch of other kids doing it in the park so i tried it for my self. Rode straight on it and my friends got a huge kick out of it. I had no idea what it was until 2 years later.

I had been skiing for 11 years already and done race team and alll that, so not really a gaper...

But I was 19, and it was actually on a snowboard. 50/50 a 2 foot wide box at Mt. High like a champ!

Skiing was that same year I believe.. also at mt high... but it was a rail and the fall hurt a lot.

i hit a flat box for the first time at mount snow in like 2003 50 50d it no problem, ate shit trying to slide it sideways. i tried my first rail at sugarloaf a year or two after that, and got worked haha.

Hahaha not to long ago at Alpine Valley MI. Had been skiing for 7 years in Europe but no boxes at the resort I always went there, never thought something could be so slippery... Needless to say, I ate shit hard at a flat 10 ft box...

okemo when I was like 8, the park at that time was for snowboarders only, I ducked the rope with a buddy and tried to slide a mailbox, I had never hit a box before and I was on straight skis. I ate shit, double ejected and to top it off, I was kicked out of the park

A not so steezey boardslide at snow summit back when i didn't realize how much i sucked at snowboarding. The box was maybe 4 feet long and almost flush with the snow

no clue when exactly or how old I was, but it was at Plose, Italy. Too bad I stopped skiing for like 7 years after the year I first went to the park. Always wonder how good I could have been if I kept on doing it...
