so i take it you are saying those are your cars? E46M is a classic! I have an E90 and an F10.. but young unlicensed park kids dont like things they cant afford so i wont post pictures of them in here.
i like BMWs a lot, in some respects. they make (made) some good cars but their brand image is so associated with douchebag drivers and shitty bluetooth talkin lawyers and trust-fund stancefags and shit, I just dont understand the undying brand loyalty some people have. especially on ns. so im interested in having someone explain to me why so many people hold BMW as the end-all automaker.
In my opinion, their trendiness among people who know little to nothing about cars totally outweighs the physical value of their cars, making them, overall, a shitty company. just because. cant take em seriously in most cases.
yes, with every lux car maker, we get douchebag drivers and lawyers, etc.. but... and its a huge but..
bmw has enthusiasts, like myself, that love to wrench on them, tune them (whether it be form or function). The hard part to explain is the "once you drive one, you'll never drive anything else" so i decided i must challenge you. If you like to wrench on cars, burn oil, fix endlinks and cv axles, go pick up a used E46 (98-2005), throw a nice set of coils on it and some mildly sticky rubber and go find a back road. You wont be upset with your decision.
now for your opinion.. that really doesn't say much other than "i cant afford one so i'll go and hate on it". truth be told, i dont want you in my forums or at my gatherings, but i still challenge you to get one and learn the reason that us BMW guys stick with them.
the only other brand that has such loyalty is VW/AUDI guys. (okay, so the AWD guys are similar with their WRX and EVOs)
its a pure passion and just like any brand, we are loyal to the ones we feel most at home with, whether its the people who share the same passion or that one back road with the windows down and revs up that just puts a grin on your face every time.
i hope you read this all and if you want to learn more about BMWs, just shoot me a pm and ill send you onto various links and forums to get your started.
well thats a very well written response and sorry if i offended you for cracking a few jokes about the stereotypes surrounding the brand. tinkering with an old e30 does sound awesome to me, but basically what you said could be said of any brand or market. im sure there are tons of JDM and and muscle enthusiasts who are just as into their shit as you are.
definitely didn't offend me. I welcome all enthusiasts. Car guys are car guys. E30s will be a fun easy project, unfortunately they are more a collectors item now a days and hard to find a not already modded one. I would look into an E36 as prices are perfect to mess with. The E46 is becoming easy to find as well.
