Most Gaper Resort/Mountain?

Which resort has the most gapers? I think its either deer valley or vail.

Here's how old the lifts are at West. My mother's older brother helped put the lift at Northwest in one summer. He's a grandfather now and lives out west. That's how old the lift at Northwest is. Also, my grandfather, who died before I was born, used to lay down hay on the trails at West. This was the pre-Barbone days. This past season was the first full season I've ever skied at West because I am on the Varsity ski team at my high school, Section 2 champs.

Definitely Angel Fire resort here in New Mexico. All the texans come and ski it in jeans and camo. They even have a Texas appreciation day there. I hate angel fire.

HISTORY AT HOME - A LOOK BACK AT WEST MOUNTAIN

The same chairlift used to carry the loads from the wagons up the notoriously steep and deadly Lolo pass on the Oregon trail. Built in 1827, it serviced around 1,600 travelers. Decommissioned in 1839 as newer technology became available. The lift sat dormant for over 50 years until the Harvey County Historical Museum, located in Burns, Oregon resurrected the lift for it's display on American Pioneering. In 1963 the chairlift was purchased by a newly opened ski center in Queensbury NY. " I think it's amazing to be able to save a piece of history and put it back into use"- replied Katherine Stanton when interviewed at the grand unveiling. Here you will still finding it today, making it the oldest and longest operating chairlift in the United States. Local history teacher and long time community member Brenda Wallisch had this to say to Poll Star reporters,"I think it's amazing we're able to share this artifact with our children today. It really helps to give them hands on experience with learning about history. They're able to not only see but experience the hardships faced by travelers nearly 200 years ago. You just can't get that kind of impact from a text book alone". And so the ski lift remains. You can visit the ski center on west mountain road in Queensbury, NY 8a.m.-4p.m. 7 days a week and take a ride on your own little piece of history.

My god that summit chair used to scare the crap out of me then it bounced when the lift suddenly stopped and I was riding with the bar up the first couple of days of on-hill practice. My parents grew up in Glens Falls and my father learned how to ski at West. Luckily he was smart enough to become a ski bum at Killington in the late 1980s/early '90s, and did this after college and having a job. One time, my dad blew his knee out at Bear Mountain, had to ride the slow, long, and cold Skye Peak quad, along with skiing all the way to his car at the K1 Lodge (back then the lodge was apparently called Killington Base Lodge, or KBL for short). He shared a ski house with a few other friends off of the access road, who one of them I skied 32 runs with at Killington in one day back in March 2011.

2 years ago we were in the midst of a rare giant storm. 8 inches had fallen so far with at least another 10 on the way. All the employees were stoked to ski pow for the first time that year.

And then a lady comes up to me and a few other instructors, and says, "when will it stop snowing?" I say hopefully never.She says, "Really, i have to be home in a week.I don't like snow." Literally all the gapers complain whenever it snows, they all want nothing but sun. They also drive 15 mph up the road to the mountain even if its 45 degrees and hasn't snowed in 3 weeks. And if it does snow on the road, its a guarantee you will see at least 3 accidents.

I've skied many places, but never have i ever seen a higher gaper to real skier ratio than at AZ snowbowl.

+1 I went to college at ASU. Last time I was at snowbowl, I saw a little Indian kid sledding down one of the green runs. Literally in a sled.
I was dating this girl many years back when I lived in Phoenix. She said she was a good skier, and loved to ski. Decided to go up to snowbowl for the day. She said she wanted to go to the top. When we got off the chair lift at the top of the mountain, she wouldn't move. completely panicked, and had to be taken down the mountain in a sled by ski patrol.
I also saw one of the craziest accidents i've ever seen at snowbowl. I was riding the lift up(can't rememeber the name) the lift that goes over the terrain park. Well at the bottom of the terrain park there was a decent sized quarter pipe. We had just gotten on the lift, when I looked up the run and saw a gapper out of control doing the pizza, going real fast. He proceeded to ski towards the quarter pipe. He ends up hitting the quarter pipe, gets launched 30 feet in the air, massively backseat, over the quarter pipe, and lands completely flat on his back a couple feet from the lodge.
I thought I just saw someone die, the kid gets up, does a fist pump, and walks into the lodge.

Hood meadows, being in the PNW, always seems to have a ridiculous amount of asian/russian tourist groups, but if you stay off the groomers they're not a problem.

Known as sunset lift. Also with the first year of snowmaking, they actually had a dope park with a 5 jump line. One person literally speared themselves through with a bamboo pole about 30 feet to the right of the landing of the first jump, and a gaper was paralyzed when they used a landing as a spot to strap in and got annihilated by someone landing.

Also the indians are hilarious. I was giving one a lesson and he asked for the equation to the perfect parabolic turn, he then forgot how to stop and ran into his daughter and plowed them both into a dirt patch. Needless to say he no longer cared about the golden ski equation.

and i hate to agree as a minority who spends time in the park, but mexican skaters in jeans and Phoenix Suns jerseys on rented 1999 burton boards are the rath of the ski gods. Nothing is both more hilarious and frightening.

Vail averaged 23,000 people daily on mountain over Christmas break three years ago.. safe bet 20k of those were gapin it up. 10k were most likely Mexican... the lowest form of gaper

Beaver Creek and Vail definitely do not have the best steeps.
Beaver Creek does not have shredders.
Vail is big enough for everyone to spread out pretty well.
But yeah gapers by the fistfull out here.

dude...any vail resort i.e. breck, keystone, vail, bever creek. these guys advertise to all the places without snow... so on weekends/holadays youll get guys from arkansas mississippi and other gaper home towns.

BRECK FOR THE WIN...COME ON. People travel across the world to ski a pancake. I ski here in CO and would totally rather be at Keystone with their population of gapers than at Breck with gapers all over catwalks. It's like Breck breeds their own kind of gaper. I don't get like it, and I still ski there. (guilty)
