I'm looking to get closer to the mountains and could go here for less than my in state tuition in Iowa. How is the night life? How much skiing can i get in? Your opinion on anything about the school would be nice. Thanks

Don't listen to him. DU is a good uni. You can hit up LoDo for nightlife or cruise over to Boulder. Generally 40 minutes to an hour to summit depending on traffic. Or you can go to Winter Park which I think after you drive the pass its almost the same time getting there as it is to summit. Good school for a Bachelors. Not CMC

I don't live in Denver but commuting there from silverthorne yes. And maybe not to downtown but definitely lakewood or genesee. I drive 85 the whole way and can always make it.

As I said. From silverthorne to lakewood or chief hosa/ past floyd hill yes. You guys must drive slower than fuck. When I get back in the US I'll post a video if that's the only way u can believe it. Haha

you can get from DU to silverthorne in an hour if you are mobbing with no traffic. usually like 1:20 though driving 5-10 over with average traffic. As for the school, challenging, prestigious, good academics, difficult work load, nice shit, lots of rich kids, lots of chads, its kind of the east coast prestigious school of colorado, at least they are trying to make it like that. I have a friend who goes there and loves it, just doesn't ski a lot due to workload. Parties are kinda ghey, bars are fun. food is good around the area. I go to boulder and am glad i did. that's my 2 cents

I went to DU from 2007-2009 but I stopped reading at "DU is less expensive than instate in Iowa" because there's no way that's true.

I went there and loved it. Light rail station gets you downtown really easily, bout 1:20 up to breck, great education. It is definitely not cheaper than any where in state. The quarter system is awesome. I always took off the winter term and lived/worked in Breckenridge. This gives you off from mid november until mid march.

I don't know much about DU, but this sounds about right.

from DU to summit it's gonna be about an hour and a half, I lived really close to the campus last season. Sure you can get from Summit to Floyd hill in 40 minutes but it's gonna take another 40 minutes to get from there into and around the city back to your place.

As others have mentioned its a bit of an "East coast" school but luckily, for those that attend, in Colorado. You'll get a killer education and mechanical engineering is a quality degree that will net you some loot post college.

Won't ski as much as at other schools but you can certainly get a bunch of days on hill.

Girls are wack though.....

When I went there, I frequently would go to A Basin in the morning and get back to campus for afternoon classes.

Also. Yes, many of the girls there are whack, but there are also a lot of super cool outdoorsy girls there too.


Join the Alpine Club if/when you go to DU. Some of the best trips/weekends/parties/friends were made through them and they do great trips for real cheap.

I do it every Saturday during the winter. Vail is about an hour and 20 minutes stopping to get Micky D's in Idaho Springs. I live off of University near Hampden. I take I-25 to 6th because it is faster than going out on 285.

That McDonald's is my go to spot for naps when driving at night. NEVER can get my fucking order right... I said no pickles!!!! Beware.

I went there and had a great time.

I didn't party as much as the normal college student - I worked quite a bit and stacked my classes Tuesday / Thursday so I could travel w/ my photography.

It really is what you make it - there is an unbelievable amount of opportunities & connections - just don't ignore what's right in front of you.

Jordan is right on, it is what you make of the opportunity. I am an old man and graduated from there with 2 degrees in 4 years in 2007. I made my schedule so I had classes all n Tuesdays and Thursdays during the winter. Skied several times a week, long with working part time. Just manage your time well, I was able to drive around Mexico, and study abroad in New Zealand while I went there, all for no more than regular tuition. As far as the ladies, I met the girl that I am marrying in a few weeks there, so just keep them eyes open. Look for the right opportunities and you will come out just fine, having skied a bunch along the way. Hope that helps,
