Yeah I totally agree with that statement. Also it seems like there is "drama" so to say going on in the stept crew. like the shot where they showed charlie owens in the hospital and they were talking about his acl. honestly I cant wait for the movie to be released. It doesn't seem like it's going to be anything like the eighty six.
What I can most appreciate about this crew is that they are creating a totally original product within the ski movie genre. No longer are there 3-4 films coming out with essentially the same cookie-cutter format (just with different riders) for us to watch. Between Stept, Level 1, Sherpas, Inspired and etc. we have a broad spectrum of styles and entertainment... that is a great thing.
Thanks freedle, I've been getting annoyed because everyones like "this trailer isn't fun! i want a movie to make me want to go ski!" Stept obviously has fun and they feel accomplished from what they do, it doesn't mean their movie has to be smiles, they wanna tell the real story behind what they do, hitting urban is rarely all smiles until someone stomps something, which doesn't happen very often.
Why would stept wanna do what everyone else tries to do? I don't understand how people think sometimes.
I totally loved the trailer. It was great how you can kind of tell they didn't show their gnarliest stuff... like saving the best stuff for the movie. I could be wrong though. The surgery room shots and the bridge jump gone wrong were especially powerful. But seriously, did that guy die or something?
i didnt see either of their names in the credits. also warnick isnt even on the stept crew page anymore yet he just had a photo advertising mutiny on ns front page. and wtf kieran mcveigh? who was bridge?
Like most people, I was stoked on the riding, the filming and the editing; this movie is about to be fucking hammer, and 98% of kids on this site would not dispute that. I thought 86 was a game changer (hence why every half of the edits coming out are 2.35:1 nowadays). With that being said, the "theme" was overdone for me. I think showing people how much work goes into every 5 second urban clip is an insanely brilliant idea, but saying you're "losing your sanity over skiing"? Come on now...
The one other thing that bugged me was the whole rating thing by the national movie association at the beginning. I though we tried to keep hollywood and the action-sports film industry seperated.
The one thing everyone should understand is that the downfall in any entertainment industry (or any industry involving public relations) is trying to please everyone. YOU WILL NEVER PLEASE EVERYONE, AT LEAST ONE PERSON WILL ALWAYS THINK YOUR SHIT'S WHACK.
Slight sidebar, but the nerd in me was disappointed by the use of the word "Mutiny". Which is when a soldier kills a superior. Mutiny has nothing to do with any characteristic of skiing.
On Facebook, Clayton Vila said they started shipping on monday so the movie is probably going to start arriving tomorrow or the next day. Somebody post a review here when you get it.
It's probably still going to be a few more days until it arrives for me. Hopefully before the weekend.
If it's anything like last year, it probably won't be on itunes for a month or so (aprox). They just finished the final movie like last week and sent it to the distributor which means they probably just send it to their digital distributer too and it takes a little while it get it online.
I think the whole horror flick idea is to mimick really how terrifying it must be fucking sending the shit they are. I like the trailer. Definitely had me saying "what the fuck" numerous times.
