Line Sir Francis Bacon vs Vokl Shiro: Which one?

I have a pair of line chronics that I'm keeping for this next season. I'm wondering what ski to get and deciding on whether I should buy the shiro and bacons.

Get Shiros. I will be buying another pair love em and they make the newer ones in 203 cm and I'm tall. Volkl makes a better ski than Line.

Haha sorry this probably won't help, but my friend was riding the Sir Francis Bacon , he loves them, I think they are more of an all mountain + powder ski instead of full powder ski. Great through all snow; slushy, pow, crud groomers etc

The Bacons are more of an all mountain powder ski than the Shiro, which is more of a powder ski. That being said if you're looking for an East Coast powder ski, I'd reccomend the Bacons over the Shiros. If you're skiing out west Shiro would be my pick for a pow ski over the Bacons. 

However it is also worth considering the nature of the two skis. The Bacons is a playful, soft, bidirectional jib ski. Whilst the Shiro is comparatively a lot stiffer, more directional and will feel more like a charger than the Bacons. If you're wanting a powder jib ski, which I imagine you would considering your park background, I'd take a look at the Opus.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I'll be in BC this year for school and will probably be riding whistler, Seymour, cypress, and revelstoke. I only rode about 30-40% park last year and I only like to do it once in a while. I want to be able to mess around on the mountain but also shred hard in the pow. I really like playful skis.

I've skied Whistler, the Vancouver hills (Cypress, Grouse etc.) and a bit in the interior but never Revelstoke. For the Vancouver mountains, you'd want a jibby playful ski that you can mess around on. The bacon would actually be a prime all mountain/fresh snow ski for the Vancouver hills. For Whistler, you could go either way, personally I'd go Shiro. Since the snow is heavier due to the proximity to the sea, the stiffer flex and wider platform would be appreciated. For revvy I would take the Shiro, I would want a more stable platform than the Bacon considering the terrain. However on the most part for the interior you can get away with skinnier skis for pow as the snow is lighter.

Bacon! It's got an even (not too soft) flex and the 108 waist is perfect for an everyday ski. thanks!

So I'm leaning more towards the shiro just because I have the chronics for the rest of the mtn. Since the ski is fully rockers a should I go for the 183s? I'm 5'10 and around 150? The chronics are. 171 and are just about eye level or a little less.

I'd go 183 if you 5'10''. Thats 6ft at 183. Hell I ride a 186 BG for my Pow ski. At your weight you will kill it with the shiros. Assuming they run close to true for sizing on Volkl (I don't ski Volkl skis).

If i where you. LINE OPUS 186, 192 you can charge on Pow but then you can shred anything else,and not to forget they turn and play with you like mofo.

Shiro turning radius around 30 meters, you really need some big mountain with big lines, Shiros likes to ride you while OPUS you ride them snap on.

I had a chance to test SHIRO very nice ski but i will go OPUS any day.

Just my 2 cent's.

Man buy some Opus, Loved mine at revy, got like 75 day's on them. They are perfect. I rode them in every condition.

Since you are going for more of a pow ski then the bacon definitely go opus, it is just as playful ad the bacon but a lot better in pow

It depends. Are you looking for a more playful ski to spin and ski pow, but that won't hold up as well at speed and in crud and is less damp? Go opus. Do you want a damper ski that can charge the fuck out of crud and stomp big cliffs but isn't as playful? Shiro. A playful and soft ski that is a little better on hardpack but still surfy in pow? Bacons.

Both great skis but the Bacons are much better for alll types of conditions while I found the Shiros primarily like powder and not much else

Volkl is pretty much the only ski company that runs true to size. My 185 Chopsticks are about 3-4cm taller than my 184 Bacons, which everyone knows Line runs short...but for some reason K2's run about 3-5cm long...

Op have you ever considered next years Volkl 2? The best way to put is it has the stability of the shiro but is playful like the opus/ bacon. I have been riding it for most o the season and can honestly say its the most fun ski I have skied on with out feeling like Im going to die at high speeds.
