I had a 96 Subaru Outback that I got for $1500.
Awesome car I had for a year, head gaskets were leaking bad so I regrettingly sold it when I could have easily fixed it at school for $600. I then waited and waited for my 94 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham because it was getting a new transmission.
Drove my grandpa's 2000 Buick Century all winter with no traction control or ABS because they were broken, total piece of shit car hahaha. Then I finally got the caddy and spent about a grand on it, brake lines were leaking, took it in, put it on the lift and the frame buckled under the pressure. Frame was completely rusted through. Got rid of that after a month :( That was my favorite car I ever had.
I then got a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville that I drive now. But I also recently purchased a 92 Nissan Sentra E for $500 to learn how to drive stick.
Last night actually my buddy Logan and I took it drifting and I snapped the rear right tie rod clean off.
It was a very slow drive home hahaha
