Where to go out west?

Whats up NS

I'm currently living on the east coast and my bro and I want to take a trip out west this season. We went to Breck, Vail, Key, and Park City within the last three years. Anyone have any resorts I should look into? I was thinking somewhere around Lake Tahoe because we have never been to California. Any advice would be helpful.

What skiing are you most interested in? Do you want a lot of park? jumps vs rails? trees, steep?

Go to mtn high if you wanna get stabbed. Bear is fun when the snow is good.. snow summit is like the abopted stepchild.. I personally prefer south lake/Sierra at tahoe over north lake. Kirkwood, I always enjoyed it but not sure how it has changed since vail resorts bought them.. shasta if u wanna get off the beaten path. Obviously mammoth too. Other places like homewood.. but idk I've heard lame things

Anything that gives you the "out west" feeling. I ski the parks all year so it would be sick to ski a terrain park that I've never skied but bowls and trees would be a huge plus.

What do you mean by spring? Out west we often get our best snow Feb.- March.
Don't go to Big Bear, Mammoth has much better terrain and snow and the park is on point. If park is a major consideration Mammoth may be your best bet. The Tahoe resorts (Squaw, K-wood etc.) would work well too w/ a little less of a park focus.
If you're coming out early to mid March and want to check out some non- park stuff Jackson and Targhee are often going off around that time.

COME TO CHINA PEAK!!! Fairly small local hill due east of Fresno, CA about 60 miles in the Sierra Nevada's. Real great vibe, locally owned by a family from here so it doesn't have the shitty rich stuck up attitude in the air. Park is kinda small but has been growing and sounds like its goin to be pretty good this year.

Haha, no. Snow Summit is not the aborted step child. On a good powder day it can be very fun if you get creative. Its more of a family oriented place.

Tahoe or Mammoth for sure. Do not listen to those encouraging you to take a trip to ski in Southern California, it is not worth traveling for.

Don't vacation on a holiday weekend. You will be wasting your money to stand in long lines at lifts because all the people who have never skiied will be falling all over themselves and the lift will stop every 5 chairs. And every gaper automatically migrating towards the summit just to yard sale in every which way and cause u to be more concerned everyone else you cant enjoy it. I don't care if you have an express lane pass for places like PC... Doesn't help that much. Go on a weekday stretch away from holidays seriously...unless you wanna pay $100 to stare at the back of everyones rental skis all day. When sundance or Christmas break comes to town I lock myself in the house.

anyway, if you go anywhere in CA it's gotta be mammoth or tahoe. squaw and alpine (same pass) are the best mountains in tahoe. kirkwood's awesome too obv but way more remote

i went to tahoe over spring break last year. had one of the greatest blue bird days of my life, got a goggle tan, all that. the next day i skied two feet of powder. it was unreal

Tahoe is sick, highly recommend it. Northstar is good for park, but not much else. Plus no one seemed to care if we drank beer on the hill as long as we covered up the label on the can with a glove or something. Ski there on shitty snow days. I didn't go to squaw when I was there but I imagine it lives up to the hype. Kirkwood is the shit on a pow day, highly recommend it, there's so much to explore there.

Bozeman area is cool too. Big Sky is sick, and I've never been to Bridger but I've heard that it is too even though its smaller. It would probably be cheaper than Tahoe if that's a consideration, and the skiing is great.
