I believe the upcoming ski season will be defined by kids whipping out their cell phones in the park.

Don't get me wrong. You'll still see a lot of real cameras and good filmers, which of course is increasing every year.

But with Instagram Video and Vine becoming a recent (huge) trend, I can almost see cell phones being huge in the park already. Instagram "edits" will probably happen.

Just a thought I had. Maybe I'm wrong? Discuss.

Yeah instagram feeds filled with shit iphone edits will piss me off, + it's inevitable.

I mean snapchatting a pic is fair enough, I do that, but I just foresee instagram/vine getting annoying.

Cell phone battery + cold temperatures = dead phone.

I've taken a handful of videos only to have the iPhone turn off after 20 seconds. Then you have to warm it in an inside pocket for 10 minutes, and repeat the stupid process.

I snap pictures with my iphone all the time. Do you have any idea how many likes you can get??
That doesn't stop me from filming with my real camera though. Why can't we do both? It's the kids that throw a crappy 3 and have their buddies film it just to show the world that peeve me off.

with cell phones shooting 1080p i really don't mind. It give's more people the ability to film with decent quality. You can pick up an i phone steadicam for 100$ or so , suits just fine for park filming. I still enjoy a well shot video with decent audio and shots from a distance but follow cam cell phone park laps im okay with as long as there's no vertical video syndrome going on.

I do this a ton when I don't have a camera on me if my friend is trying something new. Or I am for that matter. Also sometimes we like to see what we look like when doing a certain trick.

This is definitely one of the most accurate threads I have ever read. Anyone with a decent vine/instagram following group will now be considered a god of the park if he can do a 360, because nobody besides other park skiiers understand the concept of a good skiier.

Same. I sometimes have my friends film me with my phone to see if I'm tweaking a grab right or if I look smooth. But think it could be pretty sick to see what other skiers are up to....even though its just gunna end up being a bunch of 10 year olds who's daddy bought them an iPhone.
