First time you hit a rail

Everyone remembers it like the first time they spit goo outta their peniles/vajayjays so let's hear some stories...

My first time was a flat rail on a small hip-style setup. I was blasting Guano Apes and ate complete shit. It was awesome.




I had another idea for a thread but apparently I'm very close to being banned so this is all I could come up with.

If you're close to being banned, why did you have to create a thread?

BUT on topic, my first was a flat-down-flat flat rail. I had an old school sony handycam in one hand and both my poles in the other. It was night-skiing so the "night vision" was on and my skis went out from under me on the down portion and I landed on my ass on the flat portion. Hurt like a bitch and got the whole thing on video.

First time hitting a rail was on a flat down. Came in with way to much speed and landed legit with one ski on the flat and one ski on the down part of the rail. Somehow stuck it tho haha

mellow ride on flat bar about 7ft long. I slid off the side of it after half way and did not fall. I made sure I was decent at flat boxes before I hit that rail.

It was in the 4th grade and my first few attempts I didn't put both feet on I just put my inside ski on and rode with the other one then when I started to turn it was only like 60 degrees

My feet came right out from under me and I bruised my ass pretty badly. I got up and decided I'm not ever fucking doing that again.

I saw some guy hit a down rail ; he made it look easy. It looked easy, it must be easy. You just gotta hop on to the rail side ways and all should great. I hit the rail, all was not great. I slipped out immediately, eating shit, yard sale. I then tried the same thing for the next two rails, it never ended well.

Mine was a small rail about an inch off the ground. I did a huge pop, then spun 45 degrees and slid off.

10 ft flat box at brighton, jump on it sideways and slide for like half a second thinking im tom wallisch but of course I'm leaning too far back so I slide out and land on my shoulder and I hit my funny bone too haha

I stuck mine too. It was a flat double barrel about 6 inches off the ground at a preseason session at Tyrol. I had been rollerblading for about 2 years so it came really natural to me.

Speaking from the person operating the account right now. My mountain didn't have rails. Tried to slide some snow making pipes on the side of the trail. They were rusty. The most awful noise and feeling ever. and I ate shit. Didn't take long to realize rust doesn't work well for sliding rails.

one day me and my buddy were at mt snow and all the bumps and trees were icy, so we said hey, lets go learn how to ski park. we hit up the little park on ski babba at the bottom of carinthia and both picked it up pretty fast. i dont specifically recall the first attempt, but by the end of the afternoon we were both doing front 2s off most of the rails in the minipark.

I stole one of my dad's pvc pipes and ran off into the woods with it, built a lip, and then just place the pipe on it.

I tried sliding it about 3 times and slid out every single time, realized I was shit at setting up rails, and went home.

Well the first rail I ever hit I didn't fall. But it was because I didn't hit an actual rail until half way through my first season, I just hit box's. On a side note, I ate shit on my first box.

Mine was right when my mountain open and they only had 2 features and none were boxes and so I spent like 3 hours falling over on my hip while tons of other guys were doing sick stuff...

I was on rentals, popped really high over the rail, slammed down. Both skis popped off, don't really remember what happened after that.

First day of the season September-something up on Palmer before lower Timberline opened up, 2 flat boxes that I had been 50-50-ing all morning. First day on my brand new Salomon suspects with DOPE marker squires (my first skis that werent race ski rentals), friend had been beckoning me all morning to try and slide it. Called out to everyone at the top that I was a noob and was going to fall when I tried it (because I cared what people though of me). Roll up to box, feet shoulder width apart, pop, turn 90, slide, end of box, --OH SHIT what do I do know! Landed still turned 90 and slid it out like so (0:45):

I was 9 or 10 at copper mountain for my first trip out west, I had some primo atomic sl 11 racing skis and I decided it was time to balls up and huck it. I got onto the rail, slid back, hit my head, blacked out for a few seconds, got up and afterbanged my way down the hill while people laughed at me.

It was a long box about 2 feet wide and 10 feet long. I had 50 50ied it the run before and decided to try sliding it to show off in front of my friends who couldnt do shit. I jumped on it at 90, fell back onto it, double ejected, and slid all the way down it on my back before falling off the end.

forget what I said earlier, I just remembered when I was 7 I was skiing the beginner park at Sunday River and they had this weird cannon/up rail that was only like 2-3 feet tall.

I still slipped out on it, and it gave me a fear of rails and boxes for about 3 years

it was a 10 foot butter box that I decided to hit when it was icey out, i got on 90 fine, rotated to about 160 (not all the way around to switch) and then stopped because I was going so damn slow. I then fell trying to get off of it, I couldn't seem to grasp why my edges "weren't working"
