I'm a little confused, are you going to be touring on them as well? Also what's your thoughts on directional or bidirectional?

Sorry he's my little brother, basically he is doing no touring whatsoever and doesn't ski a lot of switch so i'm not sure about the directional/ bi-directional taper. He has looked at the sir francis bacon shorties, armada triple j's and majesty local hero junior's.
Thanks for any help.

Oh right ok so tell me if I've got this one right, so he's starting to ski off piste and he's looking for a ski that will support him and help him progress as fast as possible.

Basically yes, but he already skis off piste sometimes but is looking for a ski which will ski better in powder than his current ski.

The problem with a lot of youth skis, is that they're not made to the level as quality as adults skis. You want to try and stay away from skis with 'injected cores'/foam cores. However certain youth skis feature a wood core, for example the Line SFB shorty and it can even take adult bindings. The Armada Tantrum and the Triple J also feature wood cores. Alternatively you're brother could look at ladies skis, that way he'll be getting a proper adults ski just in a shorter size run.

we've looked at the armada triple J's, we're also looking at a pair of majesty local hero's, K2 Sights, Line Masterminds, we were looking at Movement Blasters but they aren't twin tipped so he doesn't want them anymore, line prophet 90's, K2 iron maiden revivals from 2011, Volkl Ledges and Bridges and Atomic Panics. If you know anything about any of these help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a real variety of skis there, some of them are twin and some are half twin. If he's looking to ski both off and on trail, he should look at the bridges as a twin. If he wants a more directional ride maybe the P98 would be a worth a look. I'd stay away from some of the park skis on that list such as the masterminds or the sights. If he wants to ski off piste aim for something wider than ~90 underfoot, but considering his still quite small, he won't need to go really wide.

ok, so no masterminds and sights, he's really considering the atomic's, anything on them?

If he's looking to explore away from the groomed runs, I'd look at something a little wider perhaps.

Atomic accesses are are good all mountain ski like he us looking for. They have a wide array of sizes as well. The sir Francis bacon shortys would be a good option as well.

Honestly I would look for some women's skis. At his height, he will be too small for most men's skis, and kids generally don't have te best durability. Women's will have the durability of adult skis, with a shorter length and softer flexes and lighter builds

Go for some 4 frnt crj,s in 164 they are durable and super fun all over the mountain I am a few inches taller than him and have them in 164 they are easy to mana ge lightweight. They do take a little getting usednto on groomed but are fine after a day or two. In pow they are very surfy and poppy which makes the ma load of fun forsure check them out
