Highest offense for getting "caught" skiing urban?

This year was the first year I really got into park so next year I plan on buying a bungee and heading out with a few friends to find some urban spots.

Is there any way they can punish you other than kicking you out? Also any tips to not get caught in the first place would be appreciated.

inb4 life in prison/death sentence

trespassing and breaking and entering. Depending on the level of damage, could be felonies. Most likely wouldn't happen, I'm just saying highest offense.

just do it. don't care about what you could possibly get nailed for just focus on getting your shots. and if you do get charged then that sucks but don't let the man stop you from doing what you love.

Citations, maybe a fine for trespassing. Either way, you got to be in and out before the cops show up.

Just don´t start discussing with cops if they ask you to leave and kindly leave area.Don´t forget to clean after youreself and don´t be pig and show disrespect to other people.Becouse they don´t understand what you are doing,so be kind.

Stay polite and friendly with the police or any other person that wants to kick you out, explain them what you're doing and that you're conscious of the risks, that you're having fun and that you'll clean everything up after

They'll generally take you up to these shepherd's huts in the hills, beat you up, and bum you.

If they don't kill you, you kill yourself because of the shame of getting a boner while you getting bummed.

technically the highest would be defacing a national monument, but as for just any old rail in a plain old park, it would be vandalism/destruction of property. However I dont even think they would do that without a warning. If cops bait your scene, pack up and leave; going back is up to you, but when they are there, just co-operate and leave

Once, in year 2007 we were in PC (iron horse dr if i remember correct the name of the street) and we were on a private condominium, which had several rails to do- straight, kinked, and multiple kinked-
We asked the residents of the Condos of the rail we were doing if it was ok, and we would cleaned up everything as soon as we were done... and everything was ok, after a little, when i was about to do the first attempt, Problems arrived!
this unfriendly, really unpolite woman, came up screaming to us, and saying that we were on private property, which, of course, we were aware. We told her that we asked permission to the owner and everything was cool, but! she didn´t listen to a word we said! she said she called already the police, 2 mins after, the cops arrived. To my surprise the cop was pretty friendly, and he was pretty chill, trying to convince the lady that we weren´t doing anything bad... we start cleaning, as she kept shouting...
5 min after the Tow came (she called it aswel) to pull our car, cause it was parked on private prop.
we kept con asking to let us go, as it was already cleaned up, even better that before!
But she said no, and we had to pay 100$ for the tow, and went to court for trasspassing! even though the cop was telling her to let us go with out any charges, but she refused...
what can i say? i did urban for years and this was the only time i had it rough...

I got a criminal trespassing charge for trying to jump off the parking garage at a children's hospital. Had to pay a large fine and added 24 hours of
Community service to what I already had. But other than that usually just tell us to leave a spot.

I'm convinced that most of the kids on here who claim they can/get "busted" for hitting urban are either exaggerating or impolite to people who question what they are doing. Here in Northern Ontario, my friends and I have been asked to leave a spot once, and it not a tense situation at all. Heck we've even hit a rail across the street from an old age home and they were stoked!

Just use discretion. Avoid rails that look nice or are in a central location (Ex. Hitting a nicely painted fancy handrail rail in front of a courthouse or church, or a monument, may get you into trouble). Urban doesn't have to be destructive, so don't hit stuff that will get really messed up after you hit it.

If you do get asked to leave, just be polite, pack up your stuff and go. Don't try to argue with police or property owners, its just going to make things worse.

Always clean up your spots.

Some cities/counties will give you big fines (couple hundred dollars) and take all your gear including camera equipment. But in general you are most likely just going to get a trespassing warning.

Best way to avoid any altercations is to hit stuff at night, on sunday's or the best of all, major holidays. Hardly anyone is out and about at schools, businesses and parks on christmas or thanksgiving.

A guy from a church in Burlington, VT once invited my friends and I in for some cake and soda as he told us we couldn't hit the ledge at the church. Didn't get to hit the spot but got some free cake and soda.

On Mardi Gras in Burly a few years ago, a few of us hit the Davis Center rail in broad daylight on the most trafficked road at like 2pm in the afternoon. Got a few hits, and then a cop arrived. He didn't care, but others would so he asked us to leave. Later on for a few years he would give me a ride around town sometimes if he saw me walking around. Not everyone is a jerk about it.

Thats sick. I remember when they put those in. It was a sad day when the removed the underground rails. Anyone who hit those knows how sick and legendary they were.

I feel like unless the cop is an actual asshole or having a bad day they're pretty mellow about it. Just usually tell you you can't do that and or give you a trespassing warning.

Nearly got in serious shit with my university for hitting a lovely rail outside my department's building on the one day it has been snowy enough since being at uni. The security came out and asked to see ID, which would mean disciplinary proceedings, my mates all showed theirs and I stayed back out of notice and didn't get mine checked. Normally if you get caught skating there and they find you're a student you get a warning and have to see the dean. If there's damage you can get kicked off your course. We scratched it up a bit, but look! I'd been eyeing that thing up for 2 years (and the one on the other side of the building which is about 50-60ft long!)

I used to get into it with business owners and cops pretty regularly when I used to skate. Granted we were highschool aged, mouthy little punkasses that people probly wanted to strangle but I managed to stay out of getting arrested, you just have be polite to the cops and if you break something, get the fuck out of there and don't come back anytime soon.

There's a park near my place that has some sick urban spots, there are however signs that say if you get caught in the park between 11pm and 5 am, you are charged with trespassing on federal property. That fine is around $2000.
