I have honestly never even tried it, but it obviously has a very big place here. Hoping that the fly guys will come in and start getting their line wet with us ;)
mmccarthy14I wanna learn to fly fish, just don't know how to approach it
Just fucking send it, aka get the basics and give it a try
I got a fly rod for my 12th birthday and have done it on and off ever since
The old starter set just isn't cutting it so I'm thinking it's time for me to upgrade especially seeing as I work near one of the nation's top trout streams
What kind of fish would yu be looking for if you were to start fly fishing?
Reporting in as well. This has been a great summer so far in Colorado, lots of rivers fishing well. I'm going to fish the Arkansas headwaters and some nearby lakes in a few weeks, and cannot be more excited!!!

I don't have many good pics to show from this year, as I am always alone, and try to get most trout back into the water very quickly. But I am planning on feeding myself a little this upcoming trip so Ill post up some good catches i'm sure. To satisfy the need for fish porn though, check out this catfish my little cousin caught while I was back home visiting this summer. I was bbq'ing dinner for the family, when the kids show up in the backyard with this cow. I can't remember exactly but it was in the ballpark of 70ish lbs.

Went on a 16 mile kayaking trip a few weeks ago down the Delaware river and caught a ton of small mouth on a black and brown wooly buggers. They tore my black one apart so I put on a brown one and it did even better

Gotta love buggers, have you ever fished just wooly worms? Its just a bugger without the hackle. I just started using them out west because they used to slam everything back home, turns out they are great here too.
soulskierIs my 4 wt going to be too small for bass fishing?
Seriously considering it but don't want to snap my rod...again
I'm not worried about throwing a bugger fly around, my concern is more once I'm hooked into a fish
Nah, just play it proper and you'll be fine. I landed a 2-3 pound largemouth on my 3wt eagleclaw. Regularly catch all kinds of smallies with it on buggers.

That sounds fun as hell, I haven't been in my kayak with the flyrod nearly enough this year. Actually haven't used either of em alone much this year at all. Used to love kayaking and fishing the delaware, now I moved out to berks county so the schuylkill is my go to river. Just haven't been going to it much this summer haha.
