Canon or Nikon??

Currently im shooting with the t3i and before I drop 2 grand on my next lens im wondering if you guys have any suggestions on if canon is the right way to shoot or should i check out nikon. I under stand that its more preference than anything but it would help if you guys can leave some ideas.

Would you be upgrading from the t3i of would you get an equivalent nikon to the canon? Do you already have other canon lenses?

Before Nikon or Canon releases a camera they go to Ken Rockwell and they ask him to test them, the best cameras get a Nikon sticker and the less good get a Canon sticker and on one day Ken tested a camera so bad, he said: "I cant even put Canon on this one" and thats how Pentax was born.

just depends on which one you have glass for already. You could always buy a canon or nikon lense adapter to use a canon lense on nikon body or visa-versa. Personally, I have canon everything and i dont think I will be switching to Nikon in the future.

You couldn't really go wrong either way

Maybe I'm reading what you said wrong, but I know that you can't get canon glass on a nikon body. However you can get nikon glass on a canon body.

Back to thread topic, it really comes down to preference. So far I've preferred nikon for my needs, and I do like the UI more. But again preference. Some people are brand loyal whores on both sides; don't be that guy. But what I will say is give both a try. Demo bodies, etc. I mean like I said I shoot nikon, but when the 5dmkiii came out I was open and actually really interested. As you invest in glass though, it will be harder to switch brands. If I were to switch right now it would be a pain, and I don't hardly have any glass compared to a lot of people out there.

I know most people on new schoolers pretty much only use canon, but I think Nikon is the way to go. Their cameras just seem to be a lot higher quality, and their lenses are the same way. However, this is just my opinion, you really can't go wrong with a nice canon SLR eather.

I think that the reason more people on NS go for Canon is that video quality on Canon DSLR's is just better for what a lot people on here like to shoot.

I fucking hate this question. You could have made those images with a nikon, canon, sony, pentax, ricoh etc.

stop worrying about brands. Look for specific models that have the performance your looking for and the support you need in terms of lens availability etc.

stop focusing on brands and gear and more on your photography.

yeah, its still kind of a preference thing, though. The Nikon shoots more of an old school grainy looking image, while the Canon is more digital. Its really just about what you think looks cool.
