Boot Liners Getting Wet

Hey

My brother has Nordica Patron Team (size 23.5) which are a kids boot: http://www.skis.com/Nordica-Patron-Team-Kids-Ski-Boots-2013/277473P,default,pd.html
He has a problem were the liners get pretty wet (especially around the toe area) making them very cold. I'm not sure why they are getting so wet and what I can do about it for him.

As far as I can tell he is buckling them up properly and they fit well. He also uses a fresh and dry pair of socks everytime he uses them (not sure if that makes a difference). I pull out the liners of the boot to let them dry after he uses them, and I've had a good look at the shells of both boots to make sure that there aren't any cracks or gaps in them.

I don't know what to do other than just pulling out the liner, letting it dry and then putting it back in again.

Any good suggestions/ideas would be really appreciated and I will give you karma!

All race boots will have poor waterproofing. This happens because the tip sealing is removable to allow for boot work (easier access for stretching and grinding). The only "good" fix is to place duct tape over the tip sealing and if you can reach it, also underneath the tip sealing inside the shell.

But considering that they're not a race boot can the problem with the tip sealants be attributed to the fact it's a kid's boot and so quality is always a step down?

Quite true this is not a WC race boot, but this is the same mold series as some of their junior race product. When a brand uses a certain mold series, there is usually a corresponding tip sealing dedicated to that mold series. They might have put something cheaper in there but I doubt it. But you can see where the tip sealing ends and the overlap begins- this is most likely where the water is coming in from.

That's not a problem solely for race boots.

My Tecnica Cochise leak horribly.  I'll pull my liners out at lunch and dump snow out of my shells before it gets a chance to melt.  I always have to pull my liners so they can dry every night as well.

know nothing about these boots but would u be able to remove the base bit, and put a rubber/ silicon sealant around it ? then put the base back on ?
