Park Water Skiing?

So I was just finished watching some of the redbull signature series wake open and it got me thinking. I've never really paid attention to water sports like that (I'm more into rafting and whatnot) so I find it pretty cool that they now have events like big air and park and their's even guys out there throwing doubles. But what about water skiing? I'm talking about the two planks on your feet way. Will it follow suit and have a similar sequence of events as snow skiing had with snowboarding?
Also, feel free to post any water skiing edits. i haven't been able to really find any.

Okay so it exists but why doesn't it have near the presence of wakeboarding? And can they do rails and hit a park?

No, water skis aren't capable of doing that kind of extreme stuff.
