Asus actually makes quality stock laptops for cheap if your only looking for speed and battery life. The graphics cards always suck though but I don't bother to change it.
Specs: 2.8ghz intel core i7 processor, 3.3ghz on high performance mode. 16gb of ram which is kind of overkill but now I can watch my videos prerender and be on Youtube/NS at the same time. also somewhere around 600gb internal storage
AAE, Sony Vegas, C4d, and boujou all run flawlessly on it. Takes me like 3 minutes to render a video <10 mins on after effects if i'm not using MBL. the computer does pretty much anything you could ask for for video editing, and was only $700
