Any of you freaks around here in Toga'? I'm here every sunday night-wednesday night for an internship. Hit me up if you are down to chill or something. I will PM you my cell number.
Also wondering if any of you have an Audi w/ a Vermont WU sticker on it?
Who was the cat Rollin the fucking sick VW right next to the track this evening? Had a jiberish sticker on it along with some others. Tried to say hello but traffic didn't let me. Also this morning I saw a grey Subaru with a carinthia sticker on it. Anyone??
good ole downtown toga. i hate track traffic trying to leave work everyday. thank god for dark days and only 6 weeks. they better not keep extending this racing bullshit.
And like I say every year, I'm always down for gores park to step it up and succeed, i just doubt it will happen. After riding there for 10+ years and working park there for 2 it just doesn't seem like they care about the park.
Whiteface which is combo'd into the season pass seems to be stepping up their game though. A mountain that has always had good jump lines but lacked rail creativity is starting to kill it. The new rails built in the last couple years + some creative setups really has them on my radar. Will def be hitting the iceface at least once this season. Gore cause it's close and I love the mountain, whiteface because they're starting to fucking slay.
One of my friends films park edits for Gore went around the base lodge back in March and asked me, my friends, and a few other people about what features you would like to see in the park next year. Some of his work:
Therefore gore is getting four new features. Cause he asked around and you know that's how stuff gets done. I'm sorry, in the past stuff like this has gotten my hopes up too, but by the time gore realizes park is a thing that brings in money, you'll have long since stopped skiing there. Whiteface has had a park for as long as I can remember and it's just starting to look like it wants to compete in the 'best east coast park' competition. When their crew gets any semblance of leadership or longevity, or even general knowledge for that matter, that is when gore's park will become passable. Myself and those of us who have skied there for many years have been forced to accept mediocrity every single winter, when it would be so easy and simple to create something even remotely respectable out of the resources they have available. Rant.
I'm not saying nick doesn't do much for the parks. But he literally doesn't do anything, I know he asked u or whatever but trust me they might build like 1 new rail
For sure. Whiteface has at least been trying for a long time. I had some problems with their jib setups especially down features for a while but they've been building good booters since dinosaurs walked the earth. The last couple years it really seems like they're putting in effort. Between building several solid features the last year or two and building creative setups constantly really makes me want to get back up there. It's been a few years for me but that place is making moves.
As far as gore it's the same as it ever was. Remember back near the end of the gully days or just after when Chopper Dave was going to come from killy and build us the worlds sickest park? People have been giving them tips on what to build for the last 10 years and nothing has really changed. Hell my stack of 100's of pictures of different features and setups is still probably sitting in the park cabinet in the garage unless Jason burned it all. I remember the one season having to hide the big battleship near the boneyard because he didn't want to use it or people to bitch that it wasn't in.
The place has so much $$$ it's not even funny. With the money they bring in, plus state aid, they can drop stupid amounts of money on lodges, lifts every season. If they dropped 10k on some new features they could put a good dent in having a proper park. And when I say 10k, I mean not even building them in house. Combine that with getting a dedicated crew together, pushing some proper jumps, that place could be ballin again. That place has a lot going for it with the setup of the mountain, good snow, amazing glades, plenty of lifts, and people who love it.
Have the people working the park crew there been there for long? That place went through people faster than anywhere I've seen. Idk anyone who worked there more than 2 seasons.
Too anyone who thinks gore is on a mission to start killing it:
People have been suggesting what they need to do for years, people have offered to help, people have tried to make it work, gore just doesn't seem to care beyond the fact that they have a park. In their minds having a park means they're killing it in the freestyle world. They alienated a ton of die hard local kids around 08/09. That place used to have a big crew of people gettin down every weekend. Everyone went and bought passes elsewhere/moved on with their lives.
Also always open to being proven wrong. I don't like to see any park struggling. I honestly hoped at one point that they'd step it up just to try and spite me. Maybe at some point they'll start caring about the park like they do about other aspects of the mountain. Until then, good luck, make the best of whats there and have fun.
^ That's how I like to remember gore. mattyb at 1:53
^ Next season but still peak gore years. 07-09 was some of the best. Miss errrbody.
The down flat was literally the a frame upside down. They told me that. And the a frame was one of the few fun rails.
And the first video was some of that filmed at the part of gore near the tubing? That was fantastic when they had stuff over there. If they just put the whole park over there it would make it that much better
back on topic! saratoga. good places to drink and escape the crowds, irish times and druthers. up the congress street to the local.. all decent places.
Sorry I had to give up the Toga NS party house guys, dis summer coulda been goooood. Yall just need to turn 21 faster now. Also if you guys have a lake house/boat/jetski I just got a jetski and need someone to tool around/drink/pursue the ladies with. Get at me.
I just got back like 5 days ago. Me and Christian have been skating every day. You should come down Saturday. There is like a skate jam thing. It's free and they have food and give shit out
Yeah I believe that was the first season it was over there. We had the ghetto shotgun(before it was death) the dfd, dragon, and wallride.
Actually I guess technically it was the second year since it was on the tubing hill the year before with a small jump and a box. This was the first year they put in that triple.
I wonder what the hell they were thinking when they plowed the half pipe on the arena and moved it to the skibowl. As far as the park it's tough to get speed over there. You could get a nice little flowing line with some small jumps and rails though.
How are the new trails? I hiked the old tbar lift line a few times before they put in the chairlift up the mountain there.
G-Eazy should be pretty dope. Gotta keep the tradition going and take down a 12pack of platinum before i head in. If yall under age guys wanna pay 13bucks for a 24oz beer come find me.
