my phone is whatever proof, I've dropped it off ski lifts, thrown it at a wall, dropped it in the toilet... its also like 4 years old and a brick. but its my whatever-proof brick

I'm rocking the new Casio Commando 4g. Been happy with it overall and it is a heck of a lot more durable than the Active. Not AS high powered, but it hasn't caused any issues and was only $100 with a new contract.

I've dropped my samsung evergreen in the lake on the 4th of July for two straight years, still works perfect and holds a charge that's close to a week long.

that's a mid range phone with the s4 designation, they're just trying to keep the s4 as a launch product although it's been out for months.

I would get the Xperia Z instead. All of the sony products I have ever had have performed fantastically and I've had a few samsung products that I always felt were just average.

I heard the s4 active still has gorilla glass for the touch screen so it's not necessarily impact proof. The screen should break similar to an iPhone.

yeah but you cant group message from android to iphone without a separate app. and im not gonna go through a separate app just to text. my 5 friend group message is probably my most used text thread. ill probably end up getting the iphone 5 or 5S (?). i guess i shouldnt count on apple upping their game to this by fall.
whatever my 4 is still in pretty good shape.

at least we know what the future is

Re 'waterproof at 1 meter'

That's waterproof to the pressure at 1 meter depth. However, that assumes the phone is still. By moving a phone underwater, it is very easy for the phone to experience several times the pressure of 1 meter at less than a foot.

the phone is not completely lifeproof, there is something to do with the backing that allows water into the backing but not the battery?? so either way i wouldnt go throwing this thing in a lake or against a wall

alright so my phone is broke. so i might get my first smart phone. any suggestions? Is the difference between the iphone 4, 4s and 5 enough to justify the price range? I need it to be durable so i will prob get a lifeproof case for it

Those 3 phones are pretty much the same. The big upgrade on the 5 is the camera is very good, it's smaller, there is more aluminum rather than glass, and it's much faster. Just an upgraded version of the same phone as you'd expect.

One thing that is sick about this phone is the that the earpiece is some new ceramic technology. Basically you can hold it to the outside of your helmet and hear perfectly clear. Only knocks on it are that it isn't super fast and the camera isn't that great. I will probably hold off until the next version rolls out.

I have had a Samsung for a few years now. One thing that has bitten me a few times is that the default settings for updates is anytime it has a connection. So if you are not in a great spot and the phone starts to download an update, the update will be corrupted. Then they have to do a full system restore on the phone and you lose all of you text history and have to reload all of your apps.

Uh when there's an update it will download it first then install it after it makes sure it isn't corrupt. It doesn't install it as it downloads ...
