I'm about to get up again tomorrow morning at ~5 to hit the lake and I'm stoked about it. I love the dawn, it's always so cool, calm and quiet. It's easily my favorite time of the day in the summer. You even get to see shit like this:

I'm also trying my damndest to plan a Quabbin Reservoir overnight trip with a group of friends for later in the summer but it's freakin' hard to do when everybody has different schedules. I HAVE to get back there to fish with the Bald Eagles again! The ability to sight fish in 30+ft of water is pretty unique and awesome, and the potential is always there for a record fish.

Other than that its hitting the usual spots for quickies when my schedule and this ridiculous heat allow it.

OH MAN NOW IM JUST STRAIGHT UP STOKED.


bought 6 bags of pit bosses yesterday lol. livingston howeller, spinnerbaits and 4 football jigs and that chatterbait too...


Now i gotta assign what rods I want for what, line-wise. At least 2 braid rods, 1 braid line for frog rod then the other braid line will be for throwin soft baits and jigs in stained water/vegetation/rocks !!!!

We should have an NS tournament Like they do kayak tournaments. Once it's summer pick a Sat + Sunday, wherever you are. Must take pics and weights of all fish caught and upload them.

Maybe a $10-$20 buy in just for fun? Half purse to the biggest bag and half to the biggest fish?


Jim you can come out here any day! I'd love to show ya Quabbin or even a few yak-only honey holes.

So remaining there's this weekend and next weekend locked in for skiing and after that, you may want to brace yourselves for a deluge of fishing pics because I'm about to flip the season switch. It might get annoying.

The weather really dies not want me to go fishing. For 4 weeks its been nice all week and shitty when i can go on the weekends. Well at least the ice is off all the lakes now

All kinds of stuff but it depends on the body of water for sure. If I have a shallow shore and vegetation I like to beat the bank with t-rig plastics, poppers and spinners- things I can work through veg or along the surface without getting pissed. Lots of bigger fish are sunning or ambushing the sunfish/baitfish you just have to catch them there.

If I can't get them there I'll find the dropoff shelf and work some cranks or jerkbaits down around/along it. In the deepest water I'll probably be using some shakyheads, ned rigs or drop shot but really deep stuff is my biggest weakness unless I have a visible hump, cover, rock shelf etc. since I have no electronics to work with.

I get a primal with a fly rod I just don't get from any other kind of fishing

I stalked some trout today to no avail but there is something special about being in the water sneaking up on a trout you just can't get from shore/a boat/a dock

Carp definitely put up a good fight. Nothing too exhilarating in my experience as they hit it then pretty much act like a rock. But it's a worthwhile fight nonetheless.

My hometown in MN has 40lb+ carp chilling in the shallow river that runs through town.

yeahhh carp are pretty good fighters.

weird thing is my trout rod had its drag like all the way down so i dont get how the rod got pulled in. this is why i bass fish

imho way harder to gets the carps to eat the flies that troots. Theyre not real agressive fish

yeah i'm thinking of getting a beeper for carp. I have a clip on bell for stripers but the bell wouldn't work because the way you tell when you get a carp is your drag rippin out of the spool, not too much bending of the rod. (wouldn't let me quote you SFB for some reason)


just got back from a 3 day CT River canoe trip... nothing huge, a few big northerns, couple 1-2 lb largies, dink smallies, perch and lost some big football smallies and LMB following my spinnerbait to canoe, night fishing I got an eel one night and last night I got 2 MONSTER CATS about 8lb and then 6lb. C&R

catching trout on the fly has become my latest obsession despite the fact that all my hours on the river have resulted in nothing but chub


There's something about a little stream in the middle of nowhere that makes me think I won't be going bass fishing any time soon

thursdays gonna be a good day for us man! I'll be at the congamond boat launch 6:00 meeting with someone I ice fished with that gave KVD tours of the CT river when BASS came here in the 90's

i'll have a frog, chatterbait, and a to be determined. only bringing 3 rods because my 4ths reel is all fucked up. thanks to buying a cheap okuma reel last summer

musky opener this weekend and im going to the big fish capital of mn, lake mille lacs. best chance of catching a monster musky, monster smallie, and monster walleye. gonna be a good ass weekend. caught both my biggest smallie (22in) and walleye (30.5 in) there, hoping to now add my biggest musky to that list

Dude that's sick! I would consider adding a light finesse worm/pit boss/minnow/fluke to the equation if you are comfortable with that. Lately it's been the biggest and by far most productive option for me and it also offers an ideal follow up if there's a missed strike. The smaller the better for real. Lately what has produced all my biggest fish was reeeally light tackle (Bento minnows, the small robos or small Slug-Go's to be exact) and soft plastic finesse. Also be sure to Ned/jig those deep drops and shelves because Cong has a lot of those and they can be really productive.

Cong is a cool place. North pond was killer the last time I was there. Most productive shaky head place I've ever fished!

yup you were right. I caught em on a 3inch pit boss with a weedless hook/attached jig head

was using bigger softbaits then decided to downgrade to a 3inch, quickly after that I got this guy, not too bad for my first day on a legit bass boat :')))

I have no idea why, but they are all about the tiny presentations lately. Can't get a swimbait sniffed to save my life but the 3" pit bosses, tiny roboworms and Sluggos have been getting smashed.


Glad to see somebody had a good day because we got skunked HARD. Good thing we brought a bunch of beer, some heady edibles, a couple blunts and had some awesome weather to distract us.

dude the fishing was horrible today. sun didnt even show itself till past noon when we were out of the water. nobody else was really having luck, but man I love the congo, saw a 6lb cruiiiisin

i saw that vid on instagram. that dude catches monesters all the time.

just sharpened the hooks on all my muskie baits. that was a lot of fuckin work but those things will take a humans face off now. i will be ready when that monster fuckin attacks this weekend. just hope my buddies wont puss out and give up, im ready to be on the water 12 hours a day
