I bought my R6 and Ninja on craigslist, sold my Xterra and Ninja on craigslist. What are you wondering, specifically?
Have mechanic check it out if possible assuming you're not great with cars. Ideally have the seller sign a bill of sale when they sign over the title.
Don't buy anything without a title in hand or if the title isn't in their name. Or if there is a lien on the title. Guy I bought the Ninja from was from NY and in NY when you take out a loan to buy the bike, you still get the title but there is a lien on it. He provided me paperwork showing the loan was paid off, but wasn't good enough for CO DMV so I had to call his bank to have them send official letterhead, kinda a pain but not end of world.
Guy with R6 still owed on the loan when I looked at the bike. When he knew I was serious about it he paid it off with his money, we waited until his bank sent him the title after it was paid off and I paid with cash. I wouldn't have gone forward with it otherwise. Don't just hand over cash to somebody who says they will take that money to pay it off unless you are there in person doing the transaction with them at their bank and they sign over power of attorney or some shit like that.
Payment, if I'm selling it I either say they bring cash and meet at my bank, or we go to their bank and you can watch them get a cashiers check in person. If you're the one paying, cashiers check is always ideal because when you go to the bank they ask who the check is for so if you're worried about being robbed, you have their name because if they give you a fake name, I don't know if they can cash the check. You can pay with cash if you trust them but do it somewhere fairly public, bring a gun if you choose :-D
craigslist is legit. Cash is king generally. Good deals if you have the cash in hand. Go for it, there's ways to be safe about it
