Is the public park closed at timberline?

So I was planning on going to mnt hood this week to go ski the public park at timberline but I just got wind that it is closed can anyone confirm or deny it?

When I left it yesterday it was open, around 3pm.

There is still a decent amount of snow there so it should be open. If not, they most likely pushed it up the mountain.

Just heard from a friend working up there that you can no longer ski to the lift.

its hella lame u have to walk the park or ski to bottom of the snow and take a massive walk to the first lift. id bring shoes you can put on so you dont want to walk a bunch of hilly trails to the lift in ski boots.

Changing into shoes will only take up time. It'd be faster to just walk in your boots.

walk to the lift, put your boots on. drop the shoes and bag off in the park, hike all day, ski down as far as you can, put on your shoes. party sleep repeat

So wait do you always have to hike the park or do you get to ski down after you walk up to the first chair?

From what I understand you ride up Magic (the first lift) and then ski the park, until snow runs out like 500 feet I've heard before the bottom. You can either walk to the bottom of the lift every run or just hike little bits all day.

I was just there for session 7 at MHSSC and rode the public every day. Put your shit on in the lodge, walk to Magic. Once you lap through the park just un-clip your ski boots and take the shortcut along the edge of the hotel swimming pool and itll minimize the distance you have to walk on concrete back to the start of the mile.

As far as the park goes its pretty sweet. Starts off with a full halfpipe. Then moves into a 20-30-35 jump line. After jumps is the rail section which has some pretty fun setups. Down box, flat box, Up-Flat-Up to Down-Kink tube, Skinny flat tube with a ft. up kink on the end, roller to corregated pole jam to down bar, handrail style down tube, skinny long down tube, cannon pyramid type rail, cannon corregated pipe.

I'm forgetting a few but that's most of them

Public park is still open but the snow is starting to get pretty low. I belive the plan for the next couple days (as of right now) is to take out most of the rails below the jumps, take out one of the jumps, and add a teir of rails above the half pipe.

Public was dope today! I don't know about the rest of the week but right now there's still a full park lane consisting of a down rail with a donkey dick and a down box above the pipe,
then the half pipe with a pole-jam entrance on one side
then 3 jumps getting progressively bigger
and the rail line consisted of a downish box, a down-donkey dick tube, a flat-down-flat rail, and a long skinny down rail all freshly buried.

They moved the park up early/mid august last year, but the snow is definitely going faster this year so we'll see. They cant really move it up for a little while because they rent the upper lanes out to windells, mhssc, high cascade, etc. and they cant just kick them out. So public is probably gonna be hike only for a few more weeks.

Public park probably wont be moving up to palmer this year do to a lack of lane space; there are a lot of race camps up here training for the olympics. The plan right now is to keep the mile park going for as long as possible, meaning that there probably wont be jumps for too much longer. There is a slight possibility that the park will move up to windells' or hcsc's lanes when they're done, but that's a couple months down the road.
