Definitely the longest, hardest 4 & 1/2 months of my life so far.
At the beginning of March whilst skiing in 3 Valleys (France), I hit a kicker and landed wrong...
My leg travelled up through my body, smashing my hip into pieces...the top of my femur...and fracturing 3 vertebrae :(
I was lying there for a good 5-10 mins on my own before I managed to get help as it was a quiet day...the longest wait of my life. Helicopter ride down to the hospital was not the fun you ever imagined a helicopter ride to be!
As I was in a bad way, I cannot remember anything until the next morning, when I woke up being told they were unsure if I would ever walk again...safe to say that hits anyone hard, especially when your family and friends are not around!
Fast forward 4 & 1/2 months...
I've had 1 big operation, and hours in the gym on rehab per day...and I'm back on my feet this week learning to walk.
All I've had in my head is the goal to get back skiing again, and possibly rugby which was my other day job. It's been hard, and felt like things were never going to get better...but I'm that stubborn that I am determined not to let it all beat me, and get back on those slopes ASAP...even if they told me I never would!
Just thought I would share this with everyone on here, as I know it could help other injured people who perhaps think of giving in when the going gets tough :)
