I think you will be surprised by the monetary gains Norwegian freeskiers can achieve. Sure, more people will have heard of you if you were in the Dew Tour or X-Games, but wouldn't you rather get paid decently than have more exposure but less money?

Uhh you're def. going to make more if you also compete in the Dew Tour and X-Games... unless you really suck and you keep on ending in last place. Just being in those comps gives you more exposure which makes you more attractive to sponsors.

I agree that he hasn't achieved anything, he's a young dude. And whether or not he is "going places" remains to be seen, I'm just pointing out that it is very possible to have a well paid skiing career just skiing out of Norway. So in regards of money, he doesn't necessarily need to be in the X-Games or Dew Tour.
But in order to have an internationally recognised career, it is pretty much obligatory to have been in the aforementioned competitions.
