Build Cost of a setup

how much does it cost to build a full set up that has a drop in and a rail and all that kinds of stuff. No m-snow just turf.
I am just trying to find out how much money i need to save.

It could range anywhere to several hundred, to even several thousand. It depends what you want in your setup, how you build it, and the quality of materials you use

woah, im just looking for a simple drop in ramp made out of pallets and 2 x 4's and a rail made of pvc.

Ah I forgot about the pallets. If you do it that way and find a good deal on turf you could make the whole thing for less that one hundred I bet. also depends how big and long you want the ramp, and how tall you want the rail.

alright, 15 foot rail? drop in made from 2 x 4's.Hoping for max length of drop in to be about 7 metres

I just brought everything i'm gonna need for my drop in ramp, and the total cost so far has been only 70$. Of course the cost of the setup depends on the prices and will you get your hands on wood and other materials for free, like i did. The rail doesn't cost alot, especially if you go to your nearest building site and ask for a leftover pvc pipe. But as i live in europe, the prices might vary alot.

Mine is just turf and construction fence on pallets in order to be mobile but all told it cost me about 60. But that did involve some salvaging/stealing

Mine: So far, ~120 without turf yet

I recommend drawing plans ASAP. That way, you can keep your eyes open for some pieces you might need in you set up. This will save you A LOT of money

I'd say save up 100$, and find as much wood and stuff as you can

Cost me ~$250 with nothing free. Depends how long you want your setup to last (a box of wood screws runs you $30).

Where ever you are getting wood screws, never go there again. Home depot 2 1/2 inch decking screws cost 6 dollars a box.

Anyway my setup cost me right around 100 dollars, and I scavenged a few things. It also helped immensely that I did not need to build a drop really, Because I have a hill.

you can get almost everything free. I go to construction sites and ask if they've got scrap I can have. I've gotten tons of pallets, 2x4's and even a bunch of cool different sized pipe. anyways.. if you go to sites and ask, you're usually guaranteed at least some free 2x4's go for et.

so far $0 but im gunna need to spend some for the sliding surface. Pallets/wood/ply at the dump for free. for the rail i "borrowed" a 10ft pvc from a building site near by. For the drop in im gunna buy lattice for the steep and turf for the lip. should only cost around $50 tops

Not everybody lives in an area where that much stuff can be salvaged. Honestly for how cheap 2x4's are I'd rather just buy them unless I specifically new of a place I could get them for free. PVC is dirt cheap as well.


It's one thing if you literally have no money but you can build a decent setup for cheap if you do it right.

If you can find some decent sized plywood scraps that would be clutch as plywood isn't cheap.

I personally would rather just drop a few bucks than spend a whole summer driving around trying to find enough scraps.

I'm not arguing again doing it just making it seem the most viable option. If it's available use it all. If it's not I think it's better to built the thing and shred it than worry about finding stuff.

You realize that 'Salvaging' a brand new 9 foot long PVC pipe from an active construction yard is not salvaging, its theft most likely. Same goes for people who find skids all over the place. I know companies I worked for would store skids out back near the dumpster, but they were not trash, companies would pay us for every skid we gave back so when kids started taking them we had to put signs up and shit. Just because something is left on the ground unattended does not mean they are up for grabs.
