Another what lens next thread...whoopdie doo

So I have a canon dslr with a tamron 17-50 and i'm mostly shooting photo (Skiing, mountain biking, and some team sports ex. football) and I was thinking that I should get a wide angle or maybe even a fisheye

The wide angle lens's i'm looking at




I was thinking that because there are not that much fisheyes with a lower f stop I would just put some distortion in afterwards in editing if I wanted a fisheye look

I was also thinking that since I don't have any further zoom lenses I was looking at further zoom some primes.




Any help on wether I should get a wide angle or further zoom prime would be awesome! Also if anyone has any tips on a zoom lens like a 70-200 that might work would be great.

I have a Nikon so I don't know much about Canon, but 17's pretty wide already, unless you're looking to go serious wide and drop a ton of cash on it. with that in mind, I'd go more for a zoom in my opinion.

as for the fisheye, they're super fun and if you have the funds I'd recommend getting one (though I'd probably recommend going with a nice zoom first as fisheyes are pretty limited in their application, whereas zooms are good for lots of situations, especially considering what you've said you'll be shooting). don't know much about canon fisheyes, but Nikon's 10.5 is fucking boss. I had it for a while before selling it and it was really difficult to take a bad photo with it as long as you use it correctly--the colors were incredible and you can get super close to stuff and just throw it for a loop with the distortion!

I'm not sure about canon's options, but if I were in your position and had the money I'd go for Nikon's 18-200. it was so popular when it first came out it was impossible to get. there's definitely something similar to that from canon.

17 is already pretty wide...

I'd say go for a tele zoom like the 70-200 f4.

This. I think you'll find a tele zoom much more useful than a fisheye, although the latter is fun have. Especially if you're shooting team sports, a fisheye is going to have very limited application unless you're running around on the field with the players.
