Making a body lift for a car?

Have any of you ever made a body lift for a car? It seems like it would be a very doable thing, as all the kits I'm finding for $200+ are just pieces of steel with holes drilled in the proper spots. Are there readily available objects of hardware that I could use to substitute these overpriced things? Thanks for any input.

I used chunks of 2x4 and it gave me just enough room to put the 33s I wanted on my Neon.

A body lift can simply be done by shoving a couple 2x4's in there and calling it a day.

Most companies actually just sell 2x4's disguised as metal. Your best bet is to just get some 2x4's perferravly used (more flex) and nail them in there

don't be a cheap prick and spend the few bucks on a real body lift kit..what the hell are you spending $300 on a BL for?

No but I just want to give my Forester ( I know, commence laughing) a little more clearance as the ass hat who had it before me lowered it for some ungodly reason

jesus christ. stop before you kill yourself or worse someone else

you have a unibody you dumb fuck not body on frame

the previous owner either bought new springs or cut the OEM springs. if you want it back up to stock height get replacement OEM or aftermarket struts and springs. Or look into a strut lift but have fun with all the new drivetrain/steering angles...
