This made me so happy for some reason.

Was this the thing on kickstarter? curious if anybody backed it on ns.

And my god the technology going into that to make it light enough and strong enough to use must have cost a fortune, that thing is fucking HUGE, I wonder if he stopped pedalling if rather than exclusively falling to the ground the propellers would fall off?

This is the one from kickstarter. There was a challenge presented to the public that would give $10,000 to the first person/team or whatever that could create a human powered helicopter that could hover at 10 ft for 60 seconds I believe. This was then upped by Sikorsky Aircraft in 2009 to $250,000 and seems to have just been won.
