Meh. This shit happens in every genre. Who cares. Although there are probably more country songs that reference beer drinking than any other genre, I think country is probably the most diverse genre when it comes to the topics of songs. Country singers will sing about anything and not even give a fuck.

It takes a lot more talent than a lot of Rap (there are, of course, exceptions) and without a doubt more talent than fucking pop. Shitty rap song consists of rapper talking about his car, money, drugs or women with shitty generic beats. I mean, at least it takes real instruments to make. Though there is also a lot of shitty country like Taylor swift, and all that pop-country bullshit. And op if you like lil wayne, drake, kanye or any other "artists" like that you should not be complaining about complexity.

A retarded person can write a wrap song even easier IMO... or pop. Agreed Johnny Cash was one of the last people who could write good music.

I'm not much of a fan of country myself, but find myself listening to it more on XM now since rap, although often has good beats, the lyrics are just as shitty. Heard a good country song though, Alcohol and Pills. I swear it wasn't by Fred Eaglesmith though

Yeah, I posted that picture because no one would really be able to tell me what kind of music the song is from those two measures. It's from a well known song so if someone listens to it they'd be able to figure it out but trying to figure out the genre starting with rules won't happen. Hint: It's not mathcore or one of those subgenres/styles which I don't understand why they even are defined/exist in the first place.


One of my pet peeves is that people characterize genres/subgenres/styles by such specific "rules." I don't get why people have to separate music that way. Why can't it just be like ok, I like how this sounds but I don't like how this sounds so I'm going to listen to this. I play piano and kind of guitar and there are so many riffs that I can make bluesy or country or whatever ]super easily. I mix it up because it's fun, not because I'm trying to define myself by them.

Is this a joke? Cash is like a 1960s Kelly Clarkson or Adele. Johnny Cash had an amazing voice and wrote catchy songs, but he sure as hell wasn't an exceptional songwriter.

Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica all were better songwriters than Cash, and that's just picking from one genre. I could probably name hundreds of people who are better songwriters than Cash.
