In my opinion the system is built very well. Sure, some 9-year-old girl is getting a lot of votes, but that's the entire point of following the public vote up with a rider's vote that makes the final decision. And if the public fails to get all of the top edits in their top 18, then the industry panel gets to add them to the pool. (Although I'll bet that the winning edit will be one of the 18 voted up by the public.) Every edit that has any chance of winning the athlete vote will make it into the final 21.

Riders complaining about the public voting system, and how they're not getting enough votes? Start flexing your social media and networking skills. If you really want 100Gs, it ain't rocket science to get votes on the Internet. I hear a little girl is pretty good at it.

The final athlete vote, park guys vs. pow guys, etc.: The peeps who get into the top 21 are the best positioned to judge the skiing ability and the effort that went into their peers' edits. I really don't see any prejudices of so-called park dudes vs. so-called pow dudes coming into play, because honestly it's a false dichotomy.

They will make a good decision. The question is, will Newschoolers be able to handle it?
