Boots!

I need some help deciding what boot to get. My feet finally stopped growin and its time to buy new boots. at my local ski shop they are on a huge sale selling nordica dead moneys for 275 and full tilt booters for 275 i like both boots and have heard good and bad things about them from my friends. Which ones should I buy and why?

Get fitted by a bootfitter and get Whatever boot fits you the best

Yeah just get the shop to fit you and get whatever they recommend. Get whatever footbed they recommend too, hopefully it will be a full custom. Footbeds make the boot.

If the dead money is anything like the Ace of Spades, (which it is with a softer flex) buy it now. Its ridiculously comfortable and has the perfect stiffness for any situation. Not to mention its super lightweight with a pretty universal 100mm last.

^like any boot it will only be comfy if it fits the foot. That is why we recommend getting fitted, not just blindly buying a boot just because it fits someone else well.

This man speaks the truth. Quick question, in your experience do ski shops still do boot fittings in the summer and does it not make sense to buy in the summer if your foot is still growing ?

Any reputable shop should have a fitter on staff year round, even in the summer. All the boots might not be out on the floor but most likely they are around. In the summer, you most likely are getting a great deal on the boots so put that money towards a good foot bed and you will be pumped come snow time.

Thats only true about last year model. Idealy you should buy late October-early novmber. Thats when you have your new model boots coming in and shops are trying to get rid of old models which ends in great deals.

Not in my neck of the woods. Most shops drop the boots to 50% off the day after the mountain closes. They stay at the 50% off through the summer. Once the new stuff ships around September - October the boots go back up to 30% off last years stuff. Take a look at it this way. Mid summer very few people are looking for boots. The price is the only enticement. The closer the season is to starting the more people are thinking snow and looking for boots so they jack the prices back up. Ideally you buy when you find a pair that fit. If you find them on sale great. There is no better time than another. Get fit and enjoy.

Most good shops will have a full time year round boot fitter but summer is hit or miss when it comes to buying boots. Most shops won't have the new stock in quite yet so you will be fitted from remaining models. Now if the guy fitting you is reputable he should be honest and say if they have anything that will fit, but if he just wants a sale while its quiet he may just stick you in something that sort of fits.

The very best time is the very start of the season. That is when there will be the most selection so you will get the bet possible boot for you. Yes it won't be on sale but getting the right boot is so inportant. Also things like footbeds never go on sale so you will not save on those.

Overall maybe go chat with some fitters, if they happen to have a boot in stock which is perfect for you then getting it cheap is always a bonus, just don't buy something that only sort of fits because its cheap.

all there is to say is whats been said. Think about flex. Foot width. length. Instep size. and go to a shop to get it fitted professionally. go to a few shops because they may have a company that fits better to you. If money is an issue. save up some more cause a shitty boot will wreck your season. or a boot that doesnt fit properly. I learnt that the hard way. Been through many tough times with it like shin splints and broken heels. *Ask them to do a shell fit, they should know what that means. Ask for their best boot fitter or when he works so you can come in and see him. If the shell fits but the liner doesnt. go intuition and go to a store who can fit them to you. they have the right machinery for it. and oven doesnt exactly cut it. good luck!
