What up Newschoolers! This is Karl Fostvedt. I know a lot of you probably make your own music, so I wanted to see if anyone is interested in having their freshest tracks featured in the Poor Boyz "rider cut" that I'm working on.

*looks like PBP realizes that there are other people out there who want to make it big and want to give back to the skiing/music community and help people by promoting their music, just because its a nice thing to do.

This is for a rider's cut, not the actual movie. Think of it as what New Era is to Refresh. I can't expect PBP has that much budget to work with to make an extra.

companies do not do anything unless there is a benefit to them. this benefit is to get "cool" music from the community so they dont have to pay for it.

this is the same scenario as the "design our skis" contests all to skip paying designers.

So, I was watching The Grand Bizarre yesterday and thought, "This is one of the worst soundtracks to ever grace a ski movie. The music in PBP movies couldn't possibly get any worse."

Then I saw this thread and realized that things will get a lot worse.

im not trying to start an argument on here or anything but im just saying that if you think that the only reason people, or organizations i this case should do things is to benefit themselves then you are going to live a sad life my friend, all im saying is that im not gonna tell you how to live you life but helping others is never a bad thing.

helping others is great and i completely agree with you. i guess from my perspective, what it comes down to is if the song is a hit and used in PBP, does the artist get royalties off the itunes downloads and the movie purchase? if they are not on a label, does PBP gain 100% ownership of the song? exposure is one thing, being exploited is another. hopefully pbp handles it better than rossi did with the create it contests.
