Pow skis?

I need help on deciding my next pow skis. Last year I was on the Armada Magic J's and loved them but im looking to try something different. I am looking for a ski that can butter like none other but also charge hard and stomp cliffs (i know those are polar opposites) also have a low swing weight to spin everything. Any suggestions would be helpful thanks. +k for good responses.

soo what didn't you like about the magic j's?

I'd say look at the volkl one and two coming out next year.

Has anyone ever ridden the bentchetlers or opus and would be kind to say how they ride?

Well all last year I rode the opus and this year I hope to ride them again. Great ski. In powder it is amazing. Able to get deep and give you face shots but also has the ability to hit technical pow airs and lines. DEFINITLY at home in pow. But it also skis great all around the mountain. On groomers it is a little floppy but can get on edge and rip. I took it in the park a little and it was good. Fine on boxes and jumps. Best ski I have ever owned. Hope that helps.

Everyone I know who has ridden them esp the 192 was amazed at how well they will hold and edge, the SPB's in them do seem to give them a bit of an edge over the Armadas which are pretty much the same thing sans the proprietary tech Atomic have.

Hahah yeah they will be put to use but l'm looking for a jibby pow ski other than the mj's and don't they the helixs will fit that

And if you are looking for something that does a little better on just groomers and in the park but still great in powder, look at the SFB's. close to the opus just not as much powder oriented. It's it's brother.

I have the 2011 Line Blend. they are friggen awesome in powder, tree and groomed trails. I still rock them in the park and they have a easy spin to them. Landed my first 3 on 'em. Definitely check them out, not sure how they changed the ski in the newest model though...

no but my but the store owner Im sponsored by was guiding tgr and he talked to a bunch of the ski to others that were on the 2 like ahmet, dash long and I forget the other but they're all switching over to it and have and say its awesome. They all like the 2 more than the one but I think thats cause they only ski fresh in them. Im sold on em.

The new Volkl playful freeride series skis can certainly butter and float in snow, they both have a subsantial amount of rocker, but they aren't stable enough to charge cliffs/lines. Volkl's best ski for both is the Shiro, but if you want something with more taper for more of a surfy/buttery feel, you cant go wrong with the Atomic Bent Chetler, it does it all, steep and deep, and is probably your best choice.

have you skied the one or two? I want to use my one for my ski hill ski and IFSA competition ski. So like bigger cliffs on packed snow. I was told it was a good choice from many but I was always unsure on if the tails would be stiff enough to stomp out. Im 5'10" and 160 k+for help

I havent skied either the One or the Two, but I know that Volkl is marketing them for skiers just learning how to ski the backcountry and need an EASY ski, meaning that is a soft ski all around. My friend skied the One, and loved how easy it was to butter around, but the softness, especially in the tail made it difficult to huck cliffs on. The skis are meant for intermediate BC skiers, so they are not meant for big drops.

No, the Petitor stayed the same just with a new graphic. They just brought the Shreditor 102 and 112.

What if I were using a longer pair though? Im 5'10" weigh 160 and would be riding a 186. So it would be 10 cms taller than I am without boots, should be fine dont you think?

Chets are a sick ski. Super buttery, can launch off of BC booters, and are stable enough to go somewhat fast.

The main problem is fast skis usually = stiff, and buttery = soft, so you may end up compromising one or the other. However, there is some pretty amazing ski shape technology out there, and I'm sure you can find something.

For instance, when I wanted a pow ski, I wanted something really contradictory too: charger ski that was stiff, yet super turny in glades. I found the ON3P Billy Goats. Works great.

Try BlisterGearReviews....they have honest opinions on stuff and are not biased.
