Thinking about getting aggressive skates, need some help here.

I kinda wanna get some aggressive rollerblades. It seems to be one of the closest things to skiing in the summer. I want to get into rails and do some skate park stuff. What do you guys recommend for my first pair? Also i have a pretty wide foot, and a shoe size of mens 12. If that matters. Thanks

Anything you can get your hands on. I'd avoid valo if you have a wide foot, otherwise everything else is probably good. check rollerwarehouse and aggressivemall and see what you like, post back what you think you might want.

i mean you could roll 4 wheels if you wanted, I don't. Plus don't use skating for a skiing substitue. You'll only end up doing spins and frontsides and backsides and you'll look dumb. There's a ton of other tricks to learn too.

those would be fine i'd think. If you're just trying to get cheap then that would work. There's better skates but for being new at it and probably doing a lot of ski tricks those would work.

My budget would be around $200. I would go more. Anything you recommend? or tips to point me in the right direction?

just get razors gens.... they are both cheap and wide. I skate USD carbon 2s and i love them.... but the boot alone is out of your price range. For a beginner setup, I would recommend razors gens, kizer fluid frames( find some cheap fluid 3s), eulogy rowe wheels, and bones reds bearings.

I am having trouble finding them in my size. mens 12. I would go a size lower if I can find them. I imagine the tighter the better.

yeah it's hard to find stuff sometimes, especially since stuff doesn't get restocked often. A lot of times there's only 1 run of stuff for awhile.




those would be pretty good as well. the rollerblade's have pretty big wheels so you could get some decent speed on them, not that you can't on other skates it's just easier with bigger wheels. You'd probably do really well with the remz OS as well, lots of people like those, they're cheap for a good skate, and I think lots of NS'ers buy those.

sizings hard, there's rarely anywhere to try on stuff, comparing to ski boots probably isn't entirely useful either. especially being a 12, skate might feel a bit big compared to ski boots.

and also it probably looks like there's a lot of skate models but there's not. I'd bet armada has more ski models than all of rollerblading does skate models. i believe there's 21 skates, one of which is a junior skate and I didn't count adapt or seba for those of you who are going to go and count. counting them it's 23 i suppose. so yes, even counting everything (if i did that right) armada has more skis. /siderant

I agree completely, I was at windells and all the bladers there were just doing ski tricks (kfeds and stuff on a little rail) while I actually want to learn skating grinds and other fun stuff like that. Everyone there thought that the ski tricks on a little rail were the coolest things ever too. It's decent but do real blade tricks! /rant

I think I may go with the remz when I get some money built up. Just made a large purchase recently. I would wanna build a rail just for home shit when I cant go anywhere else. Should I make a rail with a 1 inch pvc? I have rails for skiing that I use that have like 3 1 inch pvc's side by side. It doesent look like you will be able to slide on a wider rail with those.

Rollerblade is on 3point5 and promotive. 1/2 off msrp if you can find someone with access. Know anybody that works at a gear shop/ retail store?

yeah 1 inch is fine. You can slide really wide stuff, you just have to hit the edge or cess slide on it,

Bumping this thread, I've got some Rollerblade TRS skates and they are super heavy and the wheels are crap. I feel like they are extremely soft but I have never tried out other skates.
My question is, Should i buy some new wheels and see if they are any better or should i get a new pair? I'm nervous about ordering skates if i can't try them on or anything.
It would also take out of my bmx budget and i dont know if i want to blade or bmx more.
Any suggestions?

If you wanted to you could just get new wheels. The last time i put on a TRS skate was like 2005 so I don't remember what they felt like. They're big and chunky and heavy though thats for sure. And those look like newer TRS's so they might be a bit smaller? I'm not sure. But yeah if your wheels are all banged up and you don't want to spend more money then go for some wheels. shop-task if you're in canada and rollerwarehouse or aggressivemall i you're in the US. If you're a Euro there's places there too.

also yeah, not being able to try stuff on is something we all have to deal with unless you happen to live near amall or rw or a shop//task. i believe they have a US location now two. otherwise I can't think of any place else in teh US to get stuff, there were places near the tri-state area (NJ, PA, NY) but i'm thinking they're gone. Plus it's hard for places to get stuff in stock too.
