Not another lens thread....

Well for my next lens I have been wondering about a few L series lens to choose from. I want an all around good lens for photo and video. (60/40) I take a lot of sports and landscape, but also just a bunch of random here and there photography. Here are my choices in order.

My current setup:
Canon 60D
50 f/1.8
28 f/1.8
70-300 f/3.5-5.6

1. 24-105 f/4 - longer lens for everything, sharp

2. 24-70 f/4 - great sharp lens, little more expensive

3. 24-70 f/2.8 - great fast lens, but way out of my price range

What I am saying, should I just save up for the lens I really want? Or do these lens all perform good. Just leave a comment on how these lens perform and how you like them please. Much appreciated. Plus K to all helpful comments and tips.

They're all going to do you very well but if you don't get the one you truly want the most, will you wish you had gone the extra little bit it get the best one for you the first time around?

My motto is essentially buy the best and you'll never have to buy another, especially with camera gear,

As a general rule of thumb, always spend as much as you can possibly afford on glass. Glass will not become out-dated as the years go on, as you know vintage glass is still beautifully used today, invest in glass not bodys. In your situation, you mentioned you shoot sports and landscapes, i'm assuming you shoot these things in the daytime, so f/4 may be perfectly adequate for your needs. However if you do decide in the future you need the low light performance, or the DOF of the faster lens, you will have spent your money on a cheaper option. So i guess, if you can be patient and save your money, the more expensive lens will be better in the long run. Another option, is buy the cheaper one, play around with it, decide if its a lens you can really picture yourself using often, and then flip it and buy the more expensive one.
