Replying to Investing in stocks

Been thinking about investing some money in the stock market. I have basic knowledge of the stock market and how it works. Want to create a yahoo finance acct (pretty sure you can practice w/o actually investing real money) and eventually make an account on Etrade/scott trade. Which website has the lowest transaction fees? Do you have to pay taxes annually on revenue or after ur final withdraw? Is there an investing and withdrawal fee on these websites, if so how much? Just looking for any basic information from fellow NS investors. Kno there are some other threads out there but most are older w little info. Which stocks are worth investing in nowadays? Lets make some money together.
