DNA Glidegear 5050 vs Glidecam hd2000

Does anyone know anything about the DNA glidegear 5050? Is it like a flycam? Kinda crappy build quality? Any input would be appreciated!

Just from the pictures it looks way more adjustable than the flycam nano

its all about the wieldy carbon stabilizer. I have it.... just like an hd2000, it has a miniscule difference in build quality on the wings that hasn't affected anything for me. and its $350 shipped

is it a noticable difference? cause flycams just seem to fall apart haha

I have a dna 5050 as well, were doing some tests with it at my work where we usually fly a glidecam 4000 pro. Although I've never flown an HD model of the glidecam the glidegear model holds up very well compared to the 4000pro as well as the flycam nano which we've used and the head fell apart on us pretty quickly. The build is really sturdy and comparable to that of glidecam, definitely doesn't feel like it'll fall apart and it flies just as well as our 4000pro if not better, not to mention its way easier/quicker to balance than the pro. The adjustments on it compared to the pro are awesome with adjustment knobs like the HD series. And at the price you can't beat it, we're trying to fly it as much as we can and if it starts to show wear and tear I'll definitely speak up and let you know! But as of now I'd definitely reccomend it

You mean easier to adjust?

Honestly, the flycam is pretty damn easy to get balanced. I don't get why everyone is so puzzled by it. Takes me maybe 5-10 minutes to get mine well balanced if I change configurations.

Then again, I'm not going to be using zooms, and will pretty much just stick to a 17mm on mine, so I really only have to get it balanced one time and leave it.

Also, I put a much better QR plate on mine that works with my tripod, since the stock one is a piece of plastic garbage. A video QR plate makes it far easier to adjust fore and aft.

thats a long time. My wieldy takes like 2 minutes from the second i start screwing the camera on (i dont even have a qr yet) 5-10 min is a lot in the field to either make a client wait for or you may miss something during an event

I never really have to worry about that anyways. if I'm using a stabilizer, I'm using it with a wide angle prime lens, and not changing anything.

this. i see no point in spending hundreds of dollars extra just to save a few minutes in the beginning of the day. Unless you just have money flying out of ass that you need to waste on something its pretty stupid.

Well, honestly, If I was going to be doing more skiing with a flycam in hand, I'd probably spend more money on something that is a little more burly.

That said, the flycam is still quite well built. Much better than I expected.

It's not like it's plastic.

Yeah, and it's not. It has a few things that people may gripe about, but honestly nothing about it screams 'i'm about to break!'
