Earlier this June at the mtn jam festival I finally came across some butane honey oil (bho) and it's pretty good.. def midgrade probably made out of trimmings or something. Since then I've done a test batch with 23g stems, vector butane, and a honey bee extractor. It was successful. Came out to about .5g. My question is does anybody have any experience with this before I invest more money? Being from NY it needs to pay off because I'm not made of money.. Should I do my next batch with oz of mids for 130 or maybe a half of trainwreck for 200? Anybody have any experience with the yields? The mids is pretty seedy.. it's a hard choice because a whole oz seems better but way less thc..

Another question is does anybody have any experience with portable vapes? Is it worth it? I was looking at the thermovape revolution.. is this a product that I could use day in day out without malfunction?? I've read a lot about how the gpens go to shit so fast.. I already bought a dry dabber.. so is it worth it to make more oil? Should I just dab and forget about portable? Should I just smoke the half and not make oil? Hard decisions

Alright, a lot of this comes down to personal opinion but there are many things you can do to increase the yield even if it shitty bud. The first thing i will say is that quality of the plant matter is key in this situation. When you make bho from nug, you get a higher percentage of thc, verus making it from trim or shake. Personally, i smoke all my big nugs and turn everything else into bho. Second thing you can do to increase yield is freeze all the plant matter before extracting. I usually try to get a nice grind in the food process and make sure you are not handling any of the plant matter without gloves because the oil from skin. I freeze the plant matter for at least 24 hours and right before i get ready to run the butane through, i put the whole honey bee extract in the freezer with the plant matter in it. I always make sure to use vector because many butanes leave weird taste or you can not purge all the butane out. there are a few other premium butanes but i have yet to try them. Another great tool is too get an oil slick pad so you dont have to scrap the dish. Make sure to change the filter every time you run one can through because the keep get caught in the filter and clogs it. PM for more detail

When it comes to vap pens, get an Atmos raw because you will have it more than a month. i had a micro g pen that got for a trip a to mt hood and it didn't last three weeks before the heating element quit working. i got my money back from aqua labs and they told me to try the atmos raw and it work great and does not waste oil like most other vap pens. Also do overload the reservoir on any gap pens bc you will waste tons.The atmos raw works great but still no where near a ti nail with dome (fuck the dome less setups). Word man.. do you freeze it to aid in the keif falling off? I'll look into the oil slick pad as well. good looks..

Reading about all the reviews of vape pens online is rough.. I'll read up on the raw now...

From the many, many pages of stuff I've read on TokeCity, grinding or freezing have no noticeable effect on yield. Grinding will just increase plant matter in your product, and freezing doesn't really do anything bad or good. Run whole nugs, or just stuff whatever trim you got in there.

The freezing process helps for the thrichomes to be removed from the plant matter easier. if yo had access to NO2, that would be best because the colder you can get it, the higher the yield.

Yeah it's hash oil.. score some and just spread it along the joint paper to start... then, if you have a steady connect with it to get a dab rig. Also pretty simple to make yourself

lol bho from stems, never heard of that but it seems to have worked. I would sugest you get lower quality buds and use those until you have perfected your extraction technique. Lower quality buds will definitely yeild nicely and if you mess up its only 130 compared to 200. Be safe and work out side or in a very well ventilated area so you dont get blown up from the volatile fumes from the butane. Also purge your product A LOT so you can get as clean as a product as you can, vacum purging will help you get a cleaner high quality product.

You don't need to freeze the buds when using butane, the butane is already really cold. If I were to extract resins I would use liquid NO2 since that stuff is harmless and evaporates completely out of the product. People should be using safer cleaner solvents.

I got $28 dollar honey bee extractor from a headshop but I hear all you need is a turkey baster eight bucks from bed bath and beyond... That an a seven dollar can of butane usually per oz.. tellin ya youtube it and spoil yourself

Cirillo is right, don't grind the bud up and don't bother freezing it. Make sure you purge! If you don't have a vacuum chamber then do a simple heat purge after its scraped. Dont whip it either,Shatter is a superior product

People whip it to remove a very small amount of butane and it lightens the color (it makes more like a crumble {just vaccum purge and you don't get this problem}].

Yea.... its a beginners mistake to think that whipping will purge the oil. And whipping does not make it more crumbly, if anything it will become straight wax. Whipped oil will only turn crumbly if you vac chamber it, which takes away the whole point of whipping.


And to Sir Blunt,
I agree man, the few times I have run my own oil it has been shatter, without a chamber too.
Like shit, If i can make shatter my first time ever running nug, wax shouldnt even exist anymore

As far as portable oil vapes go.. check out the Joyetech eGo c-twist battery ($25-35). Used one for the past week without issues and the battery lasts a couple days. Can fit around a half g in the cartridges. Now, for cartridges, I've been using ones from gentlemen's vapes.com and they come in either single, 3, or 5 packs. Reasonably priced too. A whole setup of those components total should cost ~$60 if you poke around online.

I did a wash a couple weeks back of a zip of northern lights and yeilded around 2.5 g's. Purged and whipped it, and it turned out as an ear wax/crumble. If I were you, I'd just rinse mids. Use larger amounts to make the whole process worthwhile (diminishing returns), especially for your first few batches.

I ran out of oil yesterday and I do not get paid until tomorrow. I spent my last 10 bucks on 2g of regular weed that had more seeds than a strawberry and got 3 joints. Smoked the first skimpy personal and still got blitzed...

two grams of weed no mater the quality WILL get you keyed. I just smoked a singel .8 gram joint and 6+ hours later and I still feel stoned. Its really good weed though but still 6 hours of being high from a joint! I love having a low tolerance.

smoking oil is just abusing weed imo. Its like the black tar heroin of pot. Sure, they're fun once in a while but if you smoke em every day, your tolerance will be fucked and you won't be able to get as high off just plain old weed. I'll stick to the herbs.

Oh totally. My friend switched over to only oil and eventually just gave up bho because his tolerance shot up and he gaged up reclaim. I try not to kill my tolerance so I take dabs every week or so probably even less. dabs are a luxury and only for certain events and occasions. You also don't need to get stoned as fuck off a dab, just load a very small amount and your good to go more oil goes a far way when dabbing.

Ive got the g pen and i love it works perfectly. You can honestly hit them anywhere, they are so descrete. I hit it in the back of my classroom once just for kicks nobody had any idea. 4-5 hits off one dab and i get cheeched as fuck. Although i recomend getting the atmos raw pen, it comes ready to use with bud or with oil, ive used my friends and it is soooo sick. Wish i would have got it. All in all vape pens are the shiittt!

dabs are crazy! get you on a whole new level, like others have said tho you cant be doing them everyday. I used to wake up to 3 dabs but now that im not smoking a lot they just send me to the sky! idk how i used to smoke like that haha
but
making it is really easy just a few things to keep in mind. ALWAYS BE OUTSIDE, blowing butane through a tube is dangerous and should not be taken lightly... too many people blow themselves up with this shit and it can be easily avoided, next recommendation when your purging is to take your time!! so many people rush this and ruin it because purging is what makes your oil either fantastic, or complete shit. low heat and sloooooooooooow is the way to go

i just got a vape pen this week and so far i love it, i got the atmos w cause it was the best one my shop carried and atmos makes good shit. defiantly recommend it just havent had it for too long so not sure of the durability

Some people prefer wax and some people prefer to make wax.. If you do it properly and know your stuff you can basically choose how you want your en product to come out. It's justice easier to make shad with high quality product.
There is so much shit information and shit dabs going around in the country it's a fucking joke. It's impossible to get clean enough bho to not taste or feel the effects of residual 'tane. The shit I smoke is made with lab grade 99.6% n-butane... Don't fux with no home-made shit anymore after last summer when I smoked shitty trim oil ran with Power 5x and Newport and shitty trim and copped a lung infection at the end of the summer. Everyone is like oh I hear you can do it with a $5 can of tane and a glass tube and some heat.. Fucking ridiculous. Do it right or leave it to the pros and don't sell or smoke shitty under purged bho cuz it gets you a little higher.

It was top shelf from the dispensary testing at 22.5% thc and 2.46% cbd so it was potent bud but none the less .2g of good weed should get me lifted for 2 hours at least if its potent I used to be stoned for 4 hours just from that amount.

EDIBLES! Do it and you will get stoned as fuck. I plopped in 3 grams of shatter into the cooking oil and heated until the bho was nicely mixed into the vegetable oil. Heat the oil to 220*F for 10 minutes and the oil is good to go. It's really easy. The batch I made consisted of 16 personal brownies and 1/4 of a brownie would get a light smoker stoned for a fat minute and half of a brownie was too much for one of my friends. I took 1 and a half drank a shit ton of coffee in the morn and ended up stumbling into walls around my house in a trippy state listening to music and playing cod. The first time my friends and I took one edible we all ended up passing out and getting severe couch lock and we all have extremely high tolerances. The next day my friend gave me 10 bucks for another more than I was asking because he thought they were so damn good and everyone got word of my edibles and was racing to get them from me and my friend.
