At the time, I thought I was fine and it didn't hurt more than any other part of my body which was just sore from the crash. I ended up skiing normally for the rest of the day. It was the following week that sucked because things like laughing or taking deep breaths hurt. Actions like shrugging on a coat caused a sharp pain in the sternum, but other than that it wasn't bad. It didn't effect my skiing at all so I can see why Gus was able to power through his injury.
I think breaking/fracturing your ribs or sternum is way less painful and debilitating then breaking an arm or leg. It was more of an inconvenience than a serious injury.
