look i hate these people and i think everything they say is bullshit and fucking horrible, but i dont get how someone religious can argue with them. they seem to just follow the bible word for word and its easy to disagree with them from an atheist standpoint (why fucking follow a book written thousands of years ago) but can someone religious post a reasonable argument for why their interpretation of the bible should be followed rather than the westboro baptists?

their statements are hypocrytical (godhatesfags and all that) not because homosexuality and everything, but saying that god hates a group of people.

also religion is significantly more logical than atheism.

I almost feel like they're potentially just a bunch of lawyers looking to make money in a very scummy way, and don't believe in what they're actually doing. I mean, they're just waiting for people to put their hands on them so they can sue the fuck out of them, and then cashout once they got stacks. Anyone catch my drift?

1. just because you are religious doesn't mean you take the bible literally word for word. (discrepancies between the gospels kind of show that the stories went through the telephone game before being written down)

2. protesting a dead soldiers funeral because you think that his death was justified by god because of gay marriage is just ridiculous and has hardly any connection to christian faith

assuming that you believe in the big bang, it makes no sense for something to come from nothing. something had to be there to create that gas particles or whatever you people think started this all. I find my answer to be God- most logical explanation.

Yeah I think deism is the most realistic situation. God created the earth and let it run itself through Darwinism and natural laws. The way I see it the universe isn't an atom smasher.

op's point is that Christian's and the WBC both interpret the bible, they just do so in different ways, and it's impossible to say with any kind of certainty which group is "right" and which is "wrong," yet people constantly talk about how the members of the WBC aren't "real" Christians and all that

You really don't understand the big bang theory at all.
And your statement shows that there's a good chance that you don't understand science in general, what it's goals are, and how it actually works. I'm not hating, most non- scientists have a very skewed idea of what science at its most basic level actually is. The media's fucked up portrayal of scientific discovery doesn't help either.

They do not necessarily believe what they are saying. Many of the higher ranking members of the church have law degrees. Because of this they know how far they are able to push what they are saying without getting in trouble. They make money by pushing the law so far that law enforcement/civilians react them. They then sue whoever attacked them to make money.

I think the Westboro church is fucking awful, but they aren't as stupid as they look.

By that logic god should not exist because if he does, there had to be something before that created him. And something that created that, and so on; meaning there was never a time when nothing existed

The big bang created everything. I dont know how the first living organisms cam about but we certainly evolved from a common ancestor. It is impossible that someone created our galaxy, our planet, and all human beings. I am not hating on anyones beliefs but it is amazingly hard to believe one person created where we are today. And if im not wrong it is a sin to not follow what god says, wouldnt stopping at a stop light be a sin because you are not following gods "rules".
