A lot of people do switch to right handed reels for baitcasters for some reason ill never know, but I tried it and could not do it at all. There are more differences than just reeling to consider as well.
Casting you have to switch hands which I think would blow if you were pitching or flipping. Then youre also setting to hook with the opposite hand as well. My friend also mentioned that twitching worms can be very awkward with the other hand.

Yeah, I mean it doesnt feel that awkward because i've used my non dominant hand for spin reels before too, switching hands after casting isnt THAT big of a deal... If it sucks ill just sell the reel and just get a lefty one lol
and hugo i still cant find hooks for my 6 inch swimbaits, i bought some online that were too small and i bought some yesterday that were too small. Wtf.

Or just tie a weight on and cast it in your yard. If you dont like it, return it.
Whenever you cant find anything big enough for fishing, look to the saltwater sections haha

Well honestly I was joking, whatever feels right for you is right. I can swing a baseball bat and golf club in either direction but give me a righty BC reel and I'm all thumbs haha... I can't thumb a reel properly with my left so if I got a RH reel it might as well be the Audubon Pro model that comes pre birds' nested. Also I couldn't cast into the broad side of a barn with my left hand. It's sad to watch.
I have never seen a person cast with their left hand naturally. Everyone u know that reels right handed still casts with their right then switches hands. So yes, you are abnormal haha
Went fishing today and caught a bunch of decent sized bass in the 2-3lb range, nothing special. But as the sun was going down the sunfish started coming to the surface to feed and about 25 yards in front of me a good sized northern got airborne in 17 fow going after them. I launched my crankbait well past him and burned that fucker in. I was saying to myself "if hes gonna hit it should be right abo... HOLY FUCK!" It was the hardest strike i think ive ever had and I absolutely ripped the hookset on him. We fought long and hard since I didn't have a net he kept diving back as soon as I got him close. Finally wore the fucker out and got him in and I noticed I almost ripped his damn jaw off from the combination of the strike/hookset. It was tough getting a 32in fish in a selfie but I managed just for you guys. You can see his fucked jaw in the picture.
Easily the biggest northern i've caught in that lake, they're usually about 15in. I just hope he survives with the broken jaw

for fly fishing......there are some fly rods floating around in BST. maybe you grampa or someone you know has one lying around. Also, for trout I use like this berkely powerbait stuff on a treble hook

Depends on the gear and the fisherman. I was just out yak fishing with a good friend recently who was using his 5wt(I think) with frog and mouse poppers and was slaying bass on a lake.
I fished thursday-sunday and caught somewhere between 80-100 fish.

Ever caught a fish that deep anyone?
That blue line going across the screen is a thermocline. In short that means that there is low amounts of oxygen below that line so it is harder for fish to survive below it, especially later in the summer. Once I get time to get the screenshot off my graph youll see fish just stacked right on that blue line because they dont want to be in the hot water above, and cant survive in the low oxygen below. Then that red/yellow/blue arch is a fish dropping down in the water column

Rages are just ok for the money. I've never handed a St. Croix that I really liked below an Avid. Never handled a Fenwick.
For around that money I'd way rather have one of the new cork-handled Crucials though.
Or check out bbcboards.net... You kind of have to jump through hoops to sign up for the site but they have the most fucking ridiculous swap & sell forum on the entire goddam internet when it comes to bass fishing. Kick ass used rods for mind blowingly cheap prices.

I take pictures of MAYBE 1/2 of what I land if that... First priority is getting the fish back in the water ASAP. I just like to keep the stoke ball rolling :)
Glad you got to check that out, yaks are awesome. So quiet, so peaceful and you really can get in tight on spooky fish, and even sit right on top of heavy cover mats too. I like trolling motors and high deck chairs of course but there's something so awesome about a yak. It keeps it intimate and personal.
In other news, it's never awesome when your personal semi-private honey hole has fishing gapers on it, but it helps when you're catching consistent fish on topwater right under their noses whittle they're getting skunked haha

Nice lil fish... But these fucking ridiculous pickerel in this pond keep OWNING my line. At this point in the year I need to either throw steel leaders or 30+ lb braid or I have a 50/50 shot of my line vaporizing on the hook set like I was dragging it over a razor blade.
According to my email, drunk hugo decided to buy a rod off ebay saturday night..... so now I have a new crucial spinning dropshit rod on the way. Im just happy I got a good deal and didnt spend a bunch of money on it

I believe my Supreme XT is a 2500 iirc. I prefer to keep it as light as possible in most cases, and especially with spin gear.
Btw I've turned in my little spinning rod on warranty and am exchanging it for a big badass frog and jig casting rod so the SXT is just sitting around collecting dust. Kind of debating if I should just sell the it and go all BC or pick up something in a ML and keep the spin alive.
I rarely used it since my finesse combo is so fucking stellar. (NRX w/ Curado 51e & Abec7 bearings... I'd be a fkn idiot not to use it) Right now I'm thinking of just selling it and putting it towards a moderate cranking rod to use w my other Lew's reel for treble/vibration presentations

Ok I was just wondering about the reel size because I noticed all the wired2fish reviews were with very large sized reels... but I always use the 25 and 2500 sized reels. I dont want a big ass reel when im drop shotting, i feel like itd throw shit off.
As for your question, im someone that has always liked a spinning rod with finesse presentations, I have 3 in my boat with me at all times. For some reason I just feel like I get a better feel with a spinning rod. But, I also think having a moderate rod is a must for cranking. It is doable without one, but once you use one youll never go back to a fast action when cranking.
So id say if youre happy with a bc finesse setup, get a moderate GLASS cranking rod
Ok, quick question- I've never been that into cranking since I don't have electronics and feel that's a big part of successfully using them.
Why glass? I only know what I've read, and would like to hear what you have to say about them and why you like glass better. I'd definitely like to get more into it, as I feel there's a huge hole in my deep water game and I'd like to fix that.
Basically the glass rods absorb the strike, headshakes, and jerks of the fish better. So it does not snap back right away like a graphite rod would, which can result in thrown hooks or pulling the bait out of the fishes mouth before it can become hooked.
Cranking is a lot like frogging, you dont want to immediately set the hook the first millisecond you feel a strike. The extra bend and absorption help you out with this, along with glass rods being a little less sensitive.
Graphite rods are better now for cranking than they were because theyve figured out how to make them into moderate actions, but I still prefer the glass. The people you hear say glass is heavier either havent used one in the last 15 years or probably need to hit the weight room, I can cast my 7'10" glass rod all day. Its all about how the rod is balanced, not how much it weighs.
I guess id try to use both in a moderate action if I were you if possible. There are people that dislike glass, but I personally love it and swear by it.
I also think you dont need fancy electronics for cranking. Infact I think crankbaits are great for people without them. They allow you to cover water so much faster than any other bait and that can help eliminate alot of unproductive fishing space. And its not just for deep water either, burning lipless baits over the top of weeds and banging squarebills off shallow structure are both very effective.

Nice, yeah I really want to be able to use my spinnerbaits and cranks to broadcast vibration/search better. I throw them now as a search bait and use that vibe to call 'em out, but I'm throwing them on a stiff rod so I am missing the vast majority of hooksets. I was wording it like that since I already use them topwater on the top 4ft or so, and without electronics I feel like I'm just "winging it" having no idea what cover, if any, is below. They work great to let me know how deep it is, but they also come up with a huge mat of shit more often than not so it gets frustrating for me.
I do love throwing them along drop offs though, you never know what's going to slam them. Thanks for the personal opinion on the glass vs graphite though, I've been kind of mulling over that for a while. I don't want a noodle of a rod, but I do need something that will actually allow the bait to do it's thing. I'm going to have to go and molest some before I get jiggy with that shit.

It's all good but that one damn fish, it just stays there taunting me while I catch it's brother every other day
