Post 'em up! What was the latest catch or equipment purchase?

I got a new kayak about a week ago and finally took 'er out for an early morning assault on a new spot... All I can say it TITTAYS.

Sonofabitch. Last night I hooked 3 pickerel so beefy they all snapped the line while I was trying to grab them. Fuckin TANKS are coming out around 6pm, I might have to start using my metal line leaders- it was freakin' torture having them that close only to not hoist 'em... Three damn times. Gah!

Still an awesome way to spend an afternoon with good friends though!

I will actually probably end up buying a rubberized net the next time I'm at Dick's or wherever. It's not what I want but I want photo proof of these friggin' things already and I'm willing to stoop, I'm sick of losing monsters that are literally within my grasp. I can stick it right under my bow cables, done deal.

Hahaha yeah, the collegiate anglers use them too. I don't always use a net, but not even kidding most of the time when I don't use them something goes wrong and I lose 2+ pounders. (good size for CT)

Oh I always use a net for good sized fish. I've lost a couple monster bass this year because I forgot my net. NOw that fucker never leaves my boat haha.

I wasn't saying people who use nets aren't good fishermen. I was just saying that the bassmaster elite series (proest of the pros)can't use nets in their tournaments.

Just curious as I've never seen let alone caught a pickerel, about how big is a big one?

They're closely related to pike and basically look like small pike. A big one around where I live is about 4 pounds. A 5 or 6 pounder is rare, I've only ever caught one over 4 pounds, and it was like 4.5.

Well the ones I've been posting pics of are probably somewhere in the 16-18" range, but the largest I lost last night was easily 24+" which is a big ass fish for such a relatively small body of water.

That was fun, went for about an hour and caught 3 bass and a fat pickerel that slipped out of my hand after I got him off the hook. The only reason I stopped was because I was ill-prepared and a pickerel bit off my last hook. Didn't feel like tying on anything that wasn't a Slug-Go or a Senko, so I went home.

And oh yeah, for the first time this season I had to turn on the heat in my car on the way to go fishing! Snow is getting near! It was frigid out there today...

Went on a yak-to camping adventure with milfy this weekend- our spot was miles away from anything, on a cove that was all driftwood stumps every 20 or so feet... Too damn bad it was all shallow and devoid of greenery, and so this was the only decent fish I pulled all weekend.

I haven't been fishing in so long but I went Saturday night with a buddy at a creek by my house.
Brought in two small perch on a small panther Martin spinner. Even though they were small it still gets me so stoked.

I'll be sure to post a lot when the steelhead run.

They really are such a strong fish. Such a fight and you're lucky half the time to even get them to the boat, their teeth are so sharp they can cut your line like it's nothing with just a single well-placed wag of the head.

I am on the hunt for one pickerel in particular... I know where he lives and I've set at least two hooks in his lip on two separate occasions but I still cannot get him into my hands for the life of me.

Haha I already have it on! 10lb fireline (always clean and stripped of frays) with a double palomar and this fish has repeatedly shit on it. I've gotten some pretty damn big'uns to the side of the boat but this one I've never even really seen as he just bitchslaps my line. I'll have to step it up to the big reel or use the steels when I'm in his wheelhouse again. Got a net now too... It's only a matter of time before this summabitch is documented but the hunt is fkn killing me haha

Had 2 follows last night musky fishing, woulda caught one of em if I did one more figure 8. But we managed to catch 3 good sized northern.

Then this morning we went out again, had one little guy follow. But somehow managed to catch a walter on a musky bucktail...

But wouldn't ya know it... That Big'un I have been talking about snapping my line? Mf'er did it again. Went to set the hook and TINK! line = kaput. Fucker barely even tried. Worst part was that I had been throwing microleaders for about 30 mins and had JUST given up when he did it. I was so pissed. Had I left the metal on I would probably have a pic of that fish right now. GAH! Oh well.

Is that a paddle bug zapper? My friends and I used to buy those for $4 at Ocean State Job Lot, take the protective cages off, and have duels with them haha. We weren't the smartest...

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YAAAAAAAAA MOTHERFUCKER!!!!!!!!!

^That $56 was well worth it. Finally after all my hard work and fishing almost nonstop I got my musky! 41" and fucking fat, not a monster but ill fucking take it! Caught it a little over an hour ago and i'm still shaking from the adrenaline haha! That experience was nothing like i've ever had fishing before!

Flash was bright as fuck so the picture didn't turn out too well but i dont give a fuck!

And finally this fkn beast, which bent my pole completely in half like a damn horseshoe haha what a fighter! Probably the largest pickerel I've actually gotten out of the water so far from here. He was LARGE- but not that whale I've been trying to pull out of the back corner unfortunately. Still a nice fish though!

I hated ice fishing. I love the concentration that most baits require to do properly so for me, sitting around waiting for a flag to fly was honestly the most boring thing I've ever done.

Well I don't drink haha. Ice fishing is still fun as fuck, you have 6 flags up, and a hole for jigging, get the grill going and its all fun. And snowmobiling in between flags, i'll take it.

Well I can't argue with the party factor. I did like eating chili, wings etc. and getting sloshed with old men but it just didn't really feel like fishing to me. More like tailgating. Not that there's anything wrong with that but it's just not for me. In the winter I just ski my tits off. Fishing is for the other 3 seasons in my case.

I feel you, trust me I still get a ton of days in skiing. And in CT we actually have a long ice fishing season in the high elevation (For CT standards..) I was ice fishing in mid april this year. Idk, I just find it awesome, I have some really nice ice fishing equipment too so that's a plus. And ice fishing really nets out al lthe small fish, big boys only with golden shiners.
