This morning i caught the freakiest looking fish ive ever caught. I currently do not have internet as im at my dads and apparently he canceld it out of anger with the company. So i cant get the pics off my gopro, but i named it quasimusky to give you a hint. Oh and it was by far my largest tiger musky
Did the screwed up back weaken it or did it still put up a good fight?
It hit in the figure 8 and fought harder than any fish ive ever had. I thought my rod was gonna break to be honest. Wind was whipping and blowing me so the fish kept diving under and behind the boat. Was damn difficult to hold the rod and net because i was by myself
Holy schnikeys I went to a new place and it is incredible! More perfect cover in one place than I've ever seen in my life, juvies and panfish everywhere and nobody goes there because it's in the middle of fkn nowhere. It took me an hour of driving through the hills to get there and I can't wait to do it again!

Forgot the stoke pic!
Can't wait to go back. I haven't been able to stop thinking about the structures and deep areas... I want to learn that whole place so bad!
.Hugo.Well wheres the pics of the fish? Thats the money shot Haha
I only caught a bunch of dinks. It was a lot of water to cover on the yak and the visible features held no monsters I could coax out. I have got to get a portable depth finder just so I can track down the deeper holes more easily, it was really hot out and I was kind of expecting that though- and I really just wanted to go and get the lay of the land and check the place out.
I guarantee there are absolute pigs in there though. Give me some time and I'll find them haha

Haha i just needed some good fish porn, i havent even caught a fish since that last musky. Might have to break out the bass gear this weekend, i need to feel a tug on the end of my line.
Btw not sure if youre aware that icast just happened. If you wanna drool over new gear:
I already preordered one in natural blue haha- I am a frog topwater addict. I had to.
I've been cracking out bigtime to the iCast coverage on Bassresource- they do a ton of videos and interviews with the manufacturer booths. Like dozens and dozens of them. Z-man is killing it too, can't wait to get some of their new elaztech tubes.
Those 2nd Gen 13 Omens look fucking spectacular for their price range too.
I'm taking a half day tomorrow to reintroduce a friend to fishing- he hasn't been in 10 years but is stoked on the idea. I'm bringing him to my #1 honey hole so I am hoping for a few bucket faces. I'd love nothing more than for him to land a 5#+er and there are plenty in this water. He is definitely the type to get hooked on something like that.

Ya i kinda want one really badly, and i rarely ever frog haha
You see that savage gear 16in swimbait? Do want for musky. That thing looks sexy swimmin in the water

Haha yeah I though it was a guy who caught a keeper! Freakin huge man... I don't have gear to throw anything over 1.5-2oz- and even that is kind of pushing it unless it's a swimbait or glide that doesn't have much resistance on the retrieve.
I feel like that would require a trebuchet just to cast it.

My musky rod can handle up to 18oz so i think it can throw it, its more a matter if i physically can lol. Casting ~10oz baits already kills my torn rotator cuff and i imagine this weighs more. Plus its $55 for a soft swimbait id be throwing at toothy critters....
Idk i might snag that glide herring up though. Still keep forgetting to try out my savage glide swimmer too... that things still in the package.
Im bassin tonight though. Goin outta my comfort zone to a dirty lake with thick emergent cover.
Dude your rod can cast a tallboy haha that is insane!
Yeah a soft swimbait for muskies seems like a disaster in the making- like a safety whistle for eheath made of ham... It's just not gonna last long enough to bother with haha
I'm getting so excited for tomorrow. My weedless wedge prop just showed up, which is going to really help me not get pissed at weed wrap motoring around this place.

The weedless wedge is a gimmick. I still get weeds wrapped all around my prop. And I ve had it happen with both weedless wedge and weedless wedge 2

Well fuck those guys with the stellar reviews then. Oh well. If it even helps a little I guess it will be worth it. It was only like $16.

Maybe im being hypercritical. Ive never had one of the old regular props so it could be night and day as far as i know. It has also only really wrapped around in really thick milfoil that i can remember... like last night lol
Brought out my buddy who hasn't been fishing in over 10 years. Coached him through a bunch of different techniques and he was able to nail a decent lil guy on a frog which got him so stoked I don't think you could have slapped the smile off his face for the rest of the day. Dude is chomping at the bit to go again already haha
caught 30-35 bass in 3 hours this morning. nothing worth taking pictures of but i did get a bonus smallie, and theyre not even suppose to be in that lake. only second one ive caught there in the 5 years ive been goin
drove a little bit and went to a different musky lake this morning. didnt get one but caught 2 decent pike and had 2 follows of mid 40s fish. was starting to lose confidence in musky fishing but today rejuvenated me. will definitely be going back
Caught this really pretty cutthroat the other day. Stoked because I haven't landed a trout larger than 12" on my fly rod until this guy, and it is also the best looking fish I have caught all summer.

That right there us a good lookin' cutty! Such pretty fish... Trout varieties just bring the sexy like no other.

on a nymph no less, well done sir. You use an indicator or just "feel" it?
PASKIINGSUCKSon a nymph no less, well done sir. You use an indicator or just "feel" it?
That was actually on a smaller woolly bugger. I dont really like nymphing I think it is boring compared to dries or streamers.
Went out today on my local river and had a FAT 20+ inch rainbow on for around 10 minutes. Finally got close enough to net it and it snapped my 6 lb. line. Was so pissed. Followed that fish up with a couple really pretty smaller rainbows though. All in all a pretty great day.
Haven't really been out much lately and when I have gone I haven't really been taking pics for some reason.
Pulled one on a bladed jig yesterday afternoon and remembered. Probably just a little 2lb'er but it was nice to get out and it not be a billiondy degrees.
Fred_Bearam i drunk or are those batbs on the outside of the hook? I have never seen that before
Your eyes do not deceive you. Those are katsuage outbarb hooks, and are prevalent in JDM (Japanese made) baits. They hold great but are definitely a finesse hook and my drag was set a little high for them. They also make a heavier version called barbarians too fwiw.
I know it's days away from Xmas and my pow dreams are strong but man I am still really stoked on fishing. I sold a bunch of gear a while back, bought some new gear with the cash and while I'm still waiting on some, the majority of it is here now. I already can't wait to get out into the pads and channels. I know, it's sick but I can't be the only one.

Im kinda mad i winterized my boat. I could still be out there fishing in fuckin december! This winter blows ass and i didnt wven get a ski pass anywhere so im just dreamin of fishing. I mean its almost january and i cant even go set up some tip ups and get whiskey drunk because there isnt any ice on lakes.
Im trying to get a second job at a sporting goods store so i can get some mad deals and make some extra cash for boat upgrades though

You're not the only one, my park crew job here in PA is still weeks from starting and I went to the local state park the other day to scope some new fishing creeks and lakes. There were over a dozen people at the one lake fishing from shore. I was pissed I didn't bring the rod but we were there with the kids so no big deal. I will go back this week though for sure.
Been watching fishing shows all morning. I now want nothing more than for the ice to melt. Gahhhh i wanna fish so bad but hardwater just doesnt do it for me

Fred_Bearreally? does that mean upgrades to your new boat and focusing on bigger water?
Fred_Bearchasings monsters and going full on swimbaits?
Well yes but I can't give up kayak fishing. I definitely want to get a Quabbin seal and a ~5hp on my grey boat this year and I am ABSOLUTELY going to be targeting bigger fish but I am also upgrading my kayak. I sold and upgraded a rod and reel as well and got a ton of tackle this off season.
Anxious to try a Shimano DC reel finally. Picked up an Exsence DC for crazy cheap a few weeks back. Stoked on that! Milfy thinks it's hilarious that it has a computer in it and that it makes me an even bigger fishing nerd than I already was.
Oh gotcha. You not using a kayak seemed kinda fishy.
The dc reels are awesome ideas, but theres something about having a computer in my reels that scares me haha. Probly because ive had so many problems with trolling motors, graphs, starters, bilges etc that i just see it as another thing that can break. But ive also never used one or know anyone that has used one so i actually really have no idea. Technology is just scary to me
But yaa ive been living like a vagrant all winter so i can splurge on a metric shit ton of gear this spring. I have a "wishlist" that fills up 3 sheets of notebook paper lol
