So I just bought a bulldawg 8'6" xh rod and a daiwa lexa 400 reel. My old reel was right handed so I figured id get a new lefty one while I was buying things. Got em both on sale too
soulskierRealizing that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again I decided to expand my horizons yesterday and found the bite
Problem is I've never fished spro frogs and can't seem to keep the bite
Had an awesome time yesterday watching some lunkers jump out of the water but I need to slow down a bit and let 'em eat the frogame
I'm tired of throwing the frog into my chest, haha
Frogs are tough, man... You've got to have a pretty specific setup to have enough backbone and 0 stretch to really set those double hooks... Even then, you wear that frog a decent amount of the time when they spit it out or you yank it clean out of their face haha
That said, it's the most exciting way to fish simply because you get to see it get smashed. I'm always amazed at how much shit will swipe at a frog.

All I've done lately is throwing a giant Pad Crasher in heavy weeds or heavy lily pads... Going back out today with GoPro mounted on my canoe, I want an absolute slodge on the frog. Idk if that'll happen on my lake though.
Huck_Norris*AHEM* That ultimate redemption pic needs to be posted in here! That thing was a straight up water dragon.
I assume youre talking about the one from the bass thread? That was 2 weeks ago and thats my lil bro haha.
Thats why im going hard on musky fishing though. Hes not even big into fishing but hes caught a 53.3 and that 49 incher, all because his roommate us an unreal musky fisherman. I cant let him beat me haha
This kid films for the ski resort I work park crew at in the winter time. Not my video, not even me fishing, but I fish this little stream all the time. It's chocked full of wild browns of all sizes, it's not even stocked and most of it's posted but almost all the landowners let you have at it as long as you're fly fishing and C&R. No shit I saw my buddy pull a brown out of this stream that was easy 20 inches.
Hit up some streams up by tahoe past two days, it was almost unfair how many fish I caught it was too much fun. most were small but got a couple decent sized ones
then i got this creepy looking guy, never seen one like it before
played around with some photoshop and now it looks like this
hope you guys got out on the water and had a successful weekend
^ Fucking gorgeous Brownie in the second pic. Love those little red spots. That third fish a walleye???
I had a banger weekend down at the beach. Snapper blues fucking left and right. Used three rods and could barely keep bait on em. Limited out the second day and had to start throwing em back we caught so many. FISH ON!!!!

thanks man! i love those spots also they look so cool, in the first pic the fish has a few towards its tail but it was bigger so I'm guessing they kind of grow out of them. and I'm also guessing that the third fish is a brook trout because thats all i was catching from that river and iv looked up some and it says that they grow teeth when they grow older and bigger. still crazy though never seen a trout with that many teeth before
i had to look up snapper blues but they look cool and fun to catch! sounds like they taste awesome too

Do you have any other pics of it?
soulskierthanks for all your advice through this cult dudes, it has definitely upped my fishing game and let me land my personal best
If I've ever caught a bigger bass, I don't remember it
Five pound, 22 inch
Congrats on the pig dude, welcome to the 5lb club! Is that the same one youve been battling all summer?
Little snapper blue from the surf at the DE beaches. Made a nice little meal out of about ten of these guys last night. Filleted floured and butter fried, and some were gutted tail and head lopped and wrapped in foil with butter. Very tasty.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!! Nice fish man! Once you drag in a 5+er, there is no going back!
I have a couple pics saved up, and seeing as I just about broke'd my wrist and dropped a rod setting a frog hook on what would have likely been my PB last night, I should probably dump some for the stoke Gods in the hopes that they be more merciful next time.
And huck I hope you didnt actually drop your rod, that would blow. My friend recently had his gloomis pulled in by a fish while he was netting for someone else

I dropped it, but only in my lap. Still hurt like a fucker though... Had my hand in an awkward position and whipped it into my ribs, twisting it just right.
.Hugo.Was it a pretty skinny fish (hard to tell on mobile)? 22 inches should normally be 6+. Just thinking you might not be giving yourself enough credit ha
Holy tits!!! The fall bite is on.... went to a reservoir today and caught some nice bass AND PERCH on big cranks... Lost a $20 one though... fml.
then went tdown to a stream where the extra water from the rez leads out, put on a trout magnet, caught 5 species of fish. gonna put 2 pound test on one of my ugly sticks and have some fun in there... Smallies, largies, sunnies, perch, trout, crappie.... Caught all those species in 30 min, nothing huge, but didnt expect anything big lol in a cold stream
cults are weird but so is my desire to peg big ole carp w/ a fly
yo miss norris now that your blue ya gonna ditch that yak
and stand up and fish like a man?
I have a hard enough time fishing out of my yak, fly fishing from a SUP sounds like it would be super difficult. Although I've never stood on one so maybe they are more stable than they look. Seems like i would be super awesome to bonefish from one down in the keys though, bucket list type shit.

Absolutely!! Working on it for sure. I want a boat bad. Can't spend much though so I'm looking for something I can fix up on CL etc.
Nice pig btw! Good to see you in here spreading the love D.

Fishing from a SUP is actually pretty cool, I've done it but just on flat lakes. They're silly stable. Your beer won't even spill.
Went ice fishing a couple times. Nothing pic worthy just some small bass and crappies. Lost a big northern because someone forgot to tie the end of the tip up line.....
I'm in a pretty shitty mood today so rather than be a twat about it I'm just going to gear vent until I remind myself how stoked I am.
Sold my crucial for more than I paid and picked up a Dobyns Champion 705cb Glass hybrid cranking rod for a crazy good price- best flip/swap ever. Spooling it w 12lb Tatsu FC and have amassed a fair amount of sweet cranks/small swimbaits/ jerks. Also planning on using my heavy frog rod for 1-1.5oz swimbaits/wakes w/ a FC leader.
Stoked to upsize and see what I can coax out of the depths. It was the one big hole in my game.
