Post 'em up! What was the latest catch or equipment purchase?

I got a new kayak about a week ago and finally took 'er out for an early morning assault on a new spot... All I can say it TITTAYS.

Dude that bamboo rod is freakin' sweet!

I'd be way too scared to use it though. You can buy another rod but there's no replacing that!

beautiful little rainbow I pulled while sneaking in a few casts on my lunchbreak... Got a nice spot no more than 2 mins from my shop. Still pretty rare for a rainbow to be in here though.

This wasn't even the biggest one I pulled yesterday- the biggest I couldn't even manage to hold him AND get my phone out. Quality day on the lake with milfy for sure!

I caught my first fish on Sunday - in wanting to share this passion with my babe - actually getting past the whole, 'omg I'm gonna catch a fish, then what am I gonna do??' emotion -- hahha. Of course I catch the ugliest fish in the water and had to call him over to assist. But hey, maybe its a good thing I got the ugly guy first cause then the rest are whatever. Good times.

A decent 3 lber, camera angle makes it look bigger but it's not.

Thanks, the Slug-Gos are definitely working out. Since I'm a student, I'm going fishing almost every morning now that it's summer. I skipped the 2012 fishing season entirely and I'm super stoked to be back into the sport. I'm gonna try a variety of other soft plastics (since that is what I've found to work the best in the hot summer months), tomorrow. Craws, tubes, senkos, power worms and the like. I'll hopefully have some more nice pics!

Landed a nice 2 or 3 pound largemouth on my 6'6" 3wt fly rod the other afternoon, that was a fun fight. Damn near bent the thing in half ha.

I absolutely LOVE going down to Lunker City in Meriden to pick up Slu-Gos. There's just something so fun about handing over a big fat list of stuff and someone bringing back EXACTLY what you want, not just what some fishing store felt like carrying.

After that I went to the Gander Mountain in Kingston and sweet jumpin' jesus, they have the most badass fishing section I've ever seen. We're talking a good 12-15 aisles of fishing specific gear. Literally half an aisle dedicated to each line manufacturer, etc.


Between the two, I'm in a state of gear-induced post-coital euphoria over here and I can't wait to get back out on the water.

Holy shit I caught some monsters this morning, including a pickerel I couldn't even get my hand around it was so beefy. Tried to pin it against the boat with my free hand while I got my camera and the fucker got away. Sonofabitch. He was seriously closer to pike size than a normal pickerel.

Also had another gigantic Bass snap my 12lb line this morning about 3ft from the boat and also saw the largest rise of my life in another spot- sounded like someone threw a pumpkin in the water, it startled the shit out of me.

I really feel like I'm still just scratching the surface at this new spot. Goddam, it just keeps delivering in such huge amounts.

Went out with a friend today, had a little bass competition (which i'm undefeated in between friends) /claim

Caught some deep water LMB with a new bass jig, all were over a pound i got 3 or 4 of em. He got one .7 pounder lolz.

Damn, had a blast yesterday. My verybestgood fishing friend who's been out-the-ass busy lately finally got some time to get try out his new fishing boat. It's a 16 foot aluminum boat with all the bells and whistles inside like powered fill and drain livewells, multiple swivel chairs, foot controlled trolling motor, 20hp rear motor and the list goes on and on... He inherited it out of the blue. We finally go tit out on the water last night and absolutely pwnd two lakes.

Even if we hadn't caught anything it would have still been awesome- music playing, feet up, beers in hand, floating and shit... I'm so glad this counts as an "activity".

Buying a new rod and reel tomorrow and a new kayak sometime next week! So unbelievably stoked! I pretty much have made all the decisions so far, but if anyone has any last minute recommendations for a good bass fishing rod, reel, or kayak, if definitely be happy to hear them. Can't wait, so excited!

Dude I love my fishing kayak, you will never regret that purchase. I can carry that thing anywhere and I got the one with the front dashboard/tackle box thingy in it and that's really nice too. I use mine probably 3-4x a week and never get sick of being out there.




Also got away for a little bit after work before the clouds rolled in. Got this nice little guy on ultralight and a methiolate 4" slug-go.

My dad recently got a rod replaced after my brother accidentally fell into the water on Mill Creek, NY last year. The broken rod was an Orvis Clearwater.

Finally earlier this summer, the rod got replaced with an Orvis Helios rod (2nd lightest rod that Orvis carries behind the new Orvis Helios2 rod).

Man, yesterday afternoon was one of the nicest days yet this summer to be out floating around.

My friend freakin' fell in love with the new spot I showed him and we caught a few really nice fish.

He caught the fattest fkn pickerel I've ever seen- Seriously you could see the individual bulges in it's stomach from all the crayfish it had just slammed. It was such a fattie it looked like it had swallowed a baseball haha

Caught the biggest pickerel of my life last night. Fucker was more like a pike, if I didn't hook him from the side he would have laughed a tooth right through my line. As it was it took a few minutes to get him to the boat, he strolled off with my drag SINGING after the strike. Fkn wish I was with someone so I could have gotten a pic of this hog- I nearly shit when I saw how big he really was.

Funny though, it was the first time I've seen other people at this place and although most other spots I go to have lots of people, for some reason I felt totally weirded out that there were people there. I chatted with one of them for a minute and although he was a nice guy he spilled that he goes there like 4x a week now... Which would explain why the fish have been a little less plentiful lately. I might be "over" this spot for a while now just to let it cool off a bit.
