I was just at my local store and I started to look around. I realized that I was the only skinny person there. Everywhere I looked people obese or overly obese it kinda made me sick. There is my rant of the day.

a better way of putting would be:

And had you instead put that $538 a month in your retirement account, earning a moderate average of 6 percent interest, you'd have $1,082,675. But that's without diabetes or complications. Consider those pricey add-ons, and you're looking at $19,454 a year in total costs — that's $778,160 over a lifetime and over $3 million if that money had been invested.

Hahaha are you even reading the idiotic articles you're posting? Costs for 700lb+ bariatric chairs and toilets? Yes, because you see 700 pounders walking around all the time. Shit, I was in the ER for over a year and the fattest person I saw was 620 pounds. The closest behind him was a nice thick 550 pound woman. These "costs of obesity" are a fucking joke and non-applicable to 99% of the population. By all means, feel free to keep Googling stupid shit though.

i can read the article, strange... ok i'll stop using statistics, hopefully you get the picture though, vegans/vegetarians are leaner on average than people on a normal diet and there is a higher cost of living for being overweight (not just medical and this will financially affect your government).

Here's another point to consider:

You understand that being overweight is unhealthy? If overweight parents are making no visible effort to lose weight does this promote unhealthy living to their children (in a similar way to smoking)? Is therefore bad parenting?

Related, how is it possibly legal for parents to raise obese children? I find it fucking disgusting. If the child was a dog it would be animal cruelty.

Way too many people think a slow metabolism is this set-in-stone disease that they can't get rid of use is as an excuse for being 300lbs. Yeah, some people get the short end of the stick when it comes to the gene pool, but metabolism, by definition, is the process and rate that your body burns calories in order to stay alive. So actually, metabolism is very controllable. If you sit on your ass all day, play xbox, and eat garbage, your metabolism is going to be slow as fuck, just like it will speed up if you get outside and become active.

How many in-shape, skinny people that work out regularly do you hear say, "Yeah, I have a really slow metabolism"? Not too many.

Hearing fat people blame their obesity on their metabolism just proves to me that they are not only fat, but also pretty retarded.

Yeah...no.

If two guys go out on a three mile run, one with a fast metabolism, and one with a slow metabolism, the guy with the fast metabolism is going to get more out of it than the guy with the slow metabolism, and there's nothing either of them can do to change that, sorry to burst your bubble.

If you naturally have a slow metabolism you're always going to have to work harder than someone with a naturally fast metabolism to burn off the same amount of fat/calories/whatever else.

This is so true. I consider myself lucky for the fact that I have the fast metabolism, however it is a pain to the point that I can't gain wait. Honestly I wouldn't mind a few extra pounds, being skinny isn't exactly all milkshakes and butterflys.


Then again I guess i could do something about it like hitting the gym so I guess i'm just as bad as all these fat people everybody in this thread seems to hate.

exercising activates your metabolism and makes it work at a higher rate than if you're rest, but if you have a naturally slow metabolism no amount of exercise in the world will make your metabolism as efficient as someone with a naturally fast metabolism.

Bad word choice on my part. I guess manageable would have been a better fit. What I'm trying to say is I can't stand people who think having a slow metabolism means that they should just throw in the towel and be fat for the rest of their lives. Try doing something about it.

Only for the period that you exercise and a bit after. It's not a whole day affair. And do you guys understand what you mean by "speed up your metabolic rate"? That naturally means you're going to eat more to recover what you lost. The human body is hardwired to maintain a pretty good balance of what it needs. So saying that a persons naturally given basal metabolic rate while resting doesn't matter is plain wrong. Sure they should do something about their weight, but there is a small percentage out there where it is genetically harder. And that could be partly their parents and grandparents fault since obesity is a 2 generation effect.

I am a firm believer in exercise, but don't use mechanisms you don't understand to support your claims.

We deal with that all the time at work with impoverished people all the time. The fact of the matter is for most people living in poverty, access to healthy food is difficult and expensive. How many decent grocery stores do you see in the ghetto? How many KFC's and 7-11's? For some people, when paying rent takes up most of their income, gettin on a bus or taking a cab to get healthy food at a grocery store just isn't an option. Why buy milk for $5 for 4l when you can get 2x2L of soda for half the price?

I'm not saying it's right, but it's reality for many. Totally different if you roll up to whole foods in your escalade and proceed to make the same purchase.

Ever been to Disneyland, the haven for lazy fat fuckers? These motherfuckers get to skip the line because they are lazy fat pieces of shit who should be exterminated. Then it takes them 5 extra minutes to get on/off the damn ride.

Going to school in downtown LA the past four years, almost everyday I would see a fat Hispanic family walking to Burger King for breakfast, all three kids and mother obese. They lived in a shitty apartment, wore shitty clothes, and I imagine were just getting by, yet they still managed to fat as fucking possible while still being to move.

Yes, I do realize fast food is convenient and sometimes cheaper however that is bullshit in this case. A box of fucking Cheerios is like 3 bucks max and will feed the whole family breakfast for a couple of days.
