Well here we go again. The season begins August 18th, but there's still plenty going on in the meantime!


Transfer season is in full swing, with various sources reporting everything under the sun with absolutely no basis.

And seemingly every team is going on tour of somewhere, because evidently teams like Norwich need to bolster their support in places like southern California and Malaysia.


Will Manchester United keep the title?
Will Manchester City not be a mess?
Will Chelsea's Jose Mourinho get himself sacked by Christmas?
Will Arsenal be stuck waiting another season to win a trophy?
Will Tottenham finally get a champions league spot?

Here's to a hopefully entertaining season with plenty of great action leading up the BRAZIL 2014!

Oh my god so much shit went down. Fellaini to Man U is terrifying because it could work perfectly with the size and skill, especially with RVP as another big boy. Ozil trade is potentially Arsenals saving grace for a great CAM slot, and the lukaku trade is pretty sweet for everton and lukaku who wouldnt have seen much playing time with stacked chelsea. Also heard that Ba loan to Newcastle is possible with Eto coming in, which is just what Newcastle needs to kickstart the year. The EPL just got so much more interesting, I'm so fired up to see the new trades in game

Don't see it happening, but I hope he proves me wrong. And agreed, Isco now has a big job to do to (presumably) fill Ozil's shoes. I don't think Ronaldo is the man to fill Ozil's central role long term.

Injuries have always been Arsenal's achilles heel...and questionable defending.

I dont really watch La Liga, but I take it Madrid think that Isco kid can replace Ozil's playmaking. Wouldnt be surprised if Ronaldo transfers his ass outta there soon

Isco has been great thus far. He more than just a kid who might become someone. It's not like Real Madrid is ever going to go have a shitty team unless something ridiculous happens. They still have absurd amounts of talent and should be able to compete with anyone. Ozil will be missed a little if at all.

I think he'll be missed. There's always been a big difference between a Madrid with Ozil and one without. Him and Alonso are the two players that made the offense go the last few years. Isco is a great talent, but doesn't have the vision or passing ability Ozil does at this point in time.

Stacked Chelsea midfield and defense**
I would have much rather seen the Ba loan transfer to Arse go through instead of Lukaku. Would have been nice having a Didier-esque big man up top with a power strike for this season again. I have no doubt that Hazard, Oscar, Mata, Willian and the million other attacking midfield options we have will pick up the slack and find the way to goal, but it's just not really what should be happening right now. Nando has shown glimpses of his old Liverpool self. I think he'll be much closer to back on form soon, especially with the negative spotlight finally off of him, but with the lack of an unreliable #9 losing Rom was not the best thing right now.

Isco and Modric are both incredible talents. I think they can do just as good if not better than when they were using Ozil and Alonso.

...And apparently Coentrao didn't happen. I'm fine with that.

Yeah, but they aren't the same kind of players as Ozil and Alonso. Especially Modric and Alonso. Alonso is much more of a tempo player than Modric, who, though extremely talented in his own right, can't singlehandedly control the pace of a game the way Alonso can. Without a doubt Alonso has been Madrid's most important player offensively the last few years. Madrid will have a much easier time replacing Ozil with Isco than they will replacing Alonso with Modric.

In terms of making sure the offense ticks and making the team go, no, he hasn't. He's the glamor guy and gets all the goals, but without Alonso in the game he wouldn't have gotten nearly as many chances as he did. Without Alonso Madrid almost always struggled to make chances and dominate the game, with him they were normally superb. Only time will tell if Modric can end up giving Madrid the same presence

still disappointed with Arsenal overall this summer. Glad they finally spent money on a world class player, but still...months to do business and as usual they leave it to the last day

Me neither. Isco is great, but young. Once Alonso is back, Modric can move forward though, and the new signing Illarramendi can be a sub possibly for Alonso.

ya but cmon you cant be too disappointed here? ya getting him earlier on would have been nice for him to gel and settle in but i think (hope) he is the type of player who is smart enough to fit into any system right away. iv always admired how he plays, seems like everything is moving at a different speed for him compared to the rest of the field.

Madrid bought Illarramendi? Didn't even know. That's a great buy. He's more likely to replace Alonso than Modric. He could be really, really good in a couple of years.

by the time red members get to buy, the upper tier is usually all that's left.


I've sat in both lower and upper plenty of times. Upper is the best.

Upper 91 is actually pretty good. Matter of fact, it's very good. All the broadcast cameras are located in that area, so your view is pretty much the TV view.


I usually sit in the North Bank, block 100. It's as far from the away fans as possible, and you get a good view from up there.

Just wait until you see them come out of the tunnel for the first time. I waited 20 years to see that, and it remains one of the happiest moments of my life. Right then and there I vowed that I'd try to go to at least one match per season.

Love to see the way Altidore mandhandled Sagna, though.

Arsenal looked good, and presumably only get better with Ozil and Cazorla on the field together in the future

That's gonna be scary to watch. Walcott just needs to finish and if Ramsey/Giroud can keep up their form its gonna be an entertaining season.

sunderland were outclassed the first half but when we scored and looked like getting a hold of the game it was ripped away with that decision. unbelievable

sunderland are coming good soonn i reckon, we'll get a decent result against some of the big teams at home in the coming weeks

not the best of games from arsenal but i wont complain with the scoreline. ozil fits in nicely. 11 games in a row without a loss, pretty good. hopefully we can pick up our play a bit and keep it consistent throughout the game. stoke has been out playing us for the majority of this half.

Good play from arsenal today but the consistency is what needs to be improved.

Ozil is looking quite good with arsenal. Very pleased with the last few results. These have been games that they should be winning, but in past years gave airways proven to be very tricky so I'm happy with it.

And then there's Aaron Ramsey. Always liked him and hoped he would show his skill and it looks like he's doing that finally

Yeah, they look awful. I really don't understand why Moyes and co didn't try harder during the summer to bring in more midfielders. It has been incredibly obvious for 3 years now that United needs to improve the midfield and they just haven't done it for reasons i can't figure out. If they don't find a way to improve they will be lucky to finish in the top 6.

That said, it's awesome to see Arsenal and Tottenham first and second in the table

i would have given him a couple more games personally, he highlighted they havent gelled yet and there have been some good spells in the games where we have dominated and should have put the game beyond doubt(most of the 2nd half v arsenal, 1st half vs palace)

United's attack looked so stagnant, they just ran the same dumps to the corner and crosses in all game. Looked like they were missing some flair and creativity to kickstart some chances, and I thought it was dumb not to bring in nani or chicharito for some offensive boost. All in all it was a reall strange game but City dominated in everything. Negredo was impressive, Yaya was running the game, Agueros finishes, Kompany was back in form, Zabaleta was allround class, and Nasri was surprisingly incredible. City look hard to beat if they can keep clicking like that.

Tottenham became super spenders this season, they spent in excess of £100m. It will be interesting to see how they go in the long run, they'll probably gel and do really well.

What are people's thoughts of Mata on the bench?
And Rooney. United were so flat on the weekend, and they haven't won any of their big matches so far this season. If this trend continues, do you think he'll move in January/next summer. He's been flirting with a transfer for years.

And finally, big ups to Mikel for snatching a goal. He definitely deserves to find the net after all the wayward strikes down the years
